Current Sta

April 1, 2022 By Ingrid Alberding

This week, after wrapping up the Dana Center: Carnegie project, I’ve spent most of my time working on various COLA web refresh tasks.

Work in the production server has begun, and it’s a time crunch to get everything (that has already been auto migrated) cleaned up and redesigned in time.

I focused on Black Studies and affiliated sites (e.g. IUPRA, Warfield Center, RIM, AADS). Below is a screenshot with an example of my results.

I plan on undertaking more hours in order to help speed up work on this project

Week 2: Web Dev Basics

April 1, 2022 By Hoa Truong

For my second week, I have been learning and practicing new skills for Web Dev Basics assignments.

Github is one of my favorite tool. It is the tool to share your coding project and for developers to work on their projects.

I have uploading my first repository to share some information about myself and also practice using Github to upload my future coding projects.

I have also learnt so many new things about the Website such as Clients and Servers, DNS, and Component Files,…

To reflect my understanding for Website, I made a powerpoint to summary everything I learnt.

After that, Inspect was the next tool that I learnt and applied. I could see the component files of a website using Inspect and know how to do changes on the website.

Last but not least, I really enjoy learning and practicing Web Accessibility Standards assignment. It provides a lot of valuable information about how we should design our website,  the format of the information we want to share on our website.

I had the opportunity to work on analyzing different infographics and what we should do to improve the site’s accessibility. With the feedback from Ingrid, I have learnt a lot about the need of using Tab key to navigate where the users are on the website.

Overall, I have learnt a lot of valuable skills and hopefully I can apply them to produce the best products for the LAITS team. 🙂

Lingco Banner Updates

We are still in the process of deciding the direction we want to take these banners in. Yazz and Pat want to see a version where Tex and Tammy are in the primary banners and one where they are not. So far here are how the finalized options are looking. Once we get a solid decision on things we can start assigning these out to STAs to move things along.

Fun with Numbers

Fun with Numbers

I just wanted to spotlight these numbers I made for the numbers presentation for the French course. They were the most fun thing to make. I used sources such as old magazines, canva, pinterest, etc. I really enjoy typography and working in collage so getting a moment to do this for work was a lot of fun.

First Week as an STA

March 23, 2022 By Hoa Truong

Today, March 25th marks my first week of working as an STA. I am very excited and thankful for having this opportunity to work and contribute to the LAITS team.  I gained a lot of valuable information about STA, LAITS during the orientation. It was a really good time.

During my first week, I designed my self portrait. I learnt how to use photoshop to crop the image.

This is the picture of my self portrait.

Also, I finished the handbook webpage. The idea is to make a flip book and each page of the book contains the information from the handbook that I found interesting.
