eLucy Responsiveness

July 17, 2020 By Jake Engelberg

The current responsiveness of eLucy was somewhat there when I started working on it, but things were generally unaligned, and boxes where justified wrong with each other, along with uneven spacing or widths. A fair amount of work was put into equalizing these things.

Another aspect I had to implement for eLucy mobile responsiveness was the mobile’s hamburger menu. It existed, but no logic attached to it to actually work. Not sure how that actually happened, but I luckily the styling and HTML placement of the desktop navigation area wasn’t difficult to work with. I modified the style in mobile to that of a dropdown, and added some JavaScript logic to connect it to the button. Because the navigation bar is always visible in desktop but not in mobile, I also added logic when switching between mobile and desktop view (which happens when resizing window on a computer). However, I still need to catch an edge case, making mobile’s pulldown invisible on pageload.

Trapezites Updates again

July 17, 2020 By Estella Sun

Since my last post, there’s been a couple of major changes to the project!

First off, I’ve managed to code the site as a currency converter instead of a coin converter like I mentioned in my last post. I had to bring in the updated spreadsheet data and change up the code to use that data instead.

I also fixed issues where the filter dropdowns weren’t registering. There’s still work that needs to be done regarding those (including searching through the dropdowns and an issue where the other options disappear when one is selected).

The past week has been busy, but very fulfilling! I’ve been working on an assortment of Basic Training modules as well as digital studio backgrounds. Just recently, I finished the basic training for Cascade, and below is a screenshot of my test site:

I started working on the intermediate training for Cascade as well. I themed it off Berlin, one of my favorite cities and place I have a lot of opinions about.

Troubleshooting Cascade Video Embed

July 16, 2020 By Thuy H Nguyen

Troubleshooting Cascade Video Embed

During the new STAs training for Cascade, we’ve identified an issue with the JW player not being able to play the embed YouTube video. I’ve identified a workaround by embedding and resizing the YouTube video with an iframe tag. I’ve also updated the Cascade instructions.

A very very special note: I had to give Schumann’s Ghost Variations a shout-out in these instructions LOL. It’s been stuck in my head for the past week. You can listen to it here. And read the very moving story behind this piece in the description section as well if you’d like!

I’ve asked Tim, our director, about this issue to see if he has a better solution regarding this. He said this the workaround I’ve identified is what he would recommend, and he said that in the future they will probably replace it with a JavaScript video library.

Basic Training: Make a Spread in InDesign

Basic Training: Make a Spread in InDesign

While waiting for some updates / guidance on other projects, I’ve been working on this basic training in InDesign. This is a fun training in my opinion, especially because I don’t know anything about InDesign. Anyways here are my drafts.

Powerpoint Template

July 16, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

Today was a short shift and unfortunately, I didn’t have time to continue Cascade Training today because of a project deadline being moved up. I hope to resume progress on that next week. I mostly worked on the Powerpoint Template that Abriella is also working on. I made some rough drafts of the backgrounds that could be used for the template keeping in mind to stick to the color scheme and style that Abriella already had. These I did in Photoshop, but I plan on making the final drafts once I get feedback, on Illustrator.
