A change in direction

A Change in Direction

Since the last meeting, I have been working more on Latinxpop Lab in Figma and troubleshooting Canvas quiz settings for OCILL. On Thursday of last week, it was also announced that the Blanton migration project would be on short pause (just for a week) as larger issues get resolved.

Learning the Principles and Elements of Design

This KB training (Learning the Principles and Elements of Design) has helped me be more mindful & intentional with my work. Here at LAITS, I often catch myself forgetting that digital is artwork. Even when I am not working on straightforward graphics or illustrations, the projects that I touch all need good design.

The Week of Returning Projects

September 13, 2021 By Angie Huang

The Week of Returning Projects

Project: Blanton Website Project
Client /Prof: UT Austin Blanton Art Museusm
Completion status: In Progress
Staff guidance: Ruben Garza
STA team members: Angie Huang, Marianne Lê, Asmita Karmakar
Description/plans: Migration of Blaton Website; I will be reviewing pages for consistent layout, text, and links.
To be completed: Unknown

On Monday, I corrected all Intensive Turkish II quizzes (OCIL Project) to have unlimited attempts. Dr. Okur also wants to adjust the visibility of correct answers after quiz attempts, which I currently do not have a solution for. I guess that this is possible through settings in “Restrict Student Result View” but will wait to hear back from the professor and Karyn Kondoff. This returning assignment is in progress.

I also updated the Figma for LatinxpopLab last week to include images and a brief introduction of Professor Aldama and his book. He now wants to add program information on the home page but has not yet provided the information for this update. This returning assignment is in progress.

I am currently reviewing pages for the Blanton Website Project. I will meet with STAs Marianne and Asmita before the next weekly meeting regarding this assignment.

Figma for Latinxpop Lab

See the updating FIGMA embed in my last blog post; recent edits have included:

> Banner and subheader redesign
> Gridding (Why grids matter in web design)
> Youtube section on the homepage
> Repository entry block (social media and external link formatting)
> Navigation bar and footer edits

I also watched the new Marvel movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” this weekend. Hearing my native language on the big screen made me so happy. Chinese representation in media <3 The soundtrack was also outstanding; I encourage everyone to take a listen (88Rising doesn’t miss).

Starting the school year

Starting The School Year

Although classes start on Wednesday, this Monday marks the beginning of the fall semester!

Incoming tasks have been slow in comparison to the peak of summer. Thus I have been processing photo IDs and testing graphics in the studio. Last week I also met with Estella and Maddy to revise the website layout for Latinxopop Lab; the navigation bar and repository modal need more work. I also had some time to draft the rest of the website in Figma. I anticipate a meeting with Professor Aldama in the future as we seek clarification on the repository page.

Fall 2021 Online Courses

Fall 2021 Online Courses

This week I designed digital monitor backdrops, canvas graphics, and animation intros for Fall 2021 classes. My work has mainly been on “HIS 314K- History of Mexican Americans in the US,” for which I designed a PPT template, canvas graphics, and two lecture introduction animations. And for the class “ARH 301- Introduction to Visual Arts,” I worked on a TA Stinger Animation.

I also worked assets for “ECO 304K- Intro to Microeconomics” and had the chance to work in Cascade this week to update the banner on the black studies page. https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/blackstudies/

One last thing. I updated my daily plans page in Basecamp to reflect on my interests and goals for the new semester. I can’t believe summer went by so quickly!

I have been very busy

August 5, 2021 By Angie Huang

I have been very busy

hellloo 🙂 it has been a very long time since I updated my blog; so I have many exciting things to share. Firstly, OCIL has been going really well; Poonum and I have made final edits for Intensive Turkish I. We are now in the process of receiving feedback from Dr. Okur for Intensive Turkish II.

Latinx Pop Lab Website

About a week ago, Maddy had me draft a website layout for Latinx Pop Lab. Professor Aldama ended up loving the proposal :’) so I followed up with several other pages in Figma for the web developers to work with. On top of the homepage, I drafted three different repository search bars and a video content page. The layout in Figma isn’t super responsive yet, as I am waiting on further instruction regarding this project.

Breaking it Down

Another neat project that I worked on was new graphics for the UGS Department. Valerie said they really liked my work for “FOCUS” (throwback to a year ago) and wanted something similar in style for a new informational video they were developing. These are some of the final assets! The turnaround for this assignment was pretty fast, so I’m glad that Valerie and Abriella helped me out when I was away right before the deadline.

HIS 314K History of Mexican Americans in the US

And I am currently developing studio graphics for Dr. Emilio Zamora’s HIS 314K class. Several colorways for the digital monitor background are being tested for color clarity in the studio right now, these drafts will most likely be changed. More updates on this are to come soon.

Life Updates

I went to the DPS this Tuesday and got my drivers license; I am doing adult things 🙂
