Chloe Kim

These past few weeks have been extremely busy – the RUS406 animations and coloring, as well as TD301 cut-outs were all assigned. I’ve been focusing mainly on finishing the animations and have been trying to do the coloring for Oleg illustrations when I had the time. The Unit 2.11 slide has taken me a little longer than anticipated, and it’s just funny how a video that is only 25 seconds took me almost 2 days to finish! But I’ve been enjoying Adobe Animate a lot (: Here’s a snippet of what I’ve been working on:

This week’s progress

June 13, 2017 By Chloe Kim

For the past two days, I have started working on my first RUS406 animation project for Unit 2.8. Though a bit challenging, it’s been really fun trying to create different layers for different movements and trying to figure out the timing of everything. Lauren helped me to create new symbols that I could not have made myself: knitting eyebrows and an open mouth! Thankfully, she not only taught me how to use Animation, but also helped guide me through the project. This is a snippet of what it looks like so far:

Today, I was given an assignment for ADV315 to remake the cover slide for the class’ PowerPoint. Through communicating with the client and Suloni, I was able to modify the variations I worked on:

This week, I worked on several different things: from continuing my diagram to working on multiple photo ID’s to helping Bethany out with her TD301 project. Lauren also taught us how to use Adobe Animation, which is extremely cool. Can’t wait to start the RUS406 project!

Spongebob & Polina

June 1, 2017 By Chloe Kim

Today, I continued working on the diagram project and took almost 2 hours just to draw Spongebob…

Then, I fiddled around with Bethany’s Polina desgin on Photoshop for the upcoming Russian class – it was cool to connect the different body parts that she has already made into varying positions, such as sitting and standing.

Illustrator!

May 31, 2017 By Chloe Kim

I was given a task by Suloni to come up with a diagram regarding the photo ID processing. After sketching out my idea first, I learned to use Illustrator to carry out my assignment. I love Illustrator–it is much easier and more fun to use than Photoshop, personally. I’ve been fooling around with different tools and brushes and effects, and I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. Can’t wait to see the finished product…

In the past three days, I’ve already learned so much as a new STA. On the first day, I learned how to log time, make my own banner for the STA blog, and was taught by Bethany how to use Photoshop. I felt so helpless, yet so excited to start this new job! I definitely appreciate all the patience and warm welcoming I’ve received from everyone in the office.

On the second day, I focused on COLA Photo ID processing. It was fun learning how to edit the photos through Photoshop, as well as contacting the clients regarding their photo submissions. It feels cool to be part of something big!

Today, I finished up my painting tutorial using Photoshop, as well as submitted another photo ID to the COLA db. It took me a while to find the “right” brush, as well as to draw with a mouse, but it definitely felt good to draw again. I realized how much I’ve missed art, since I don’t get much exposure to it as a STEM major. I can’t wait to dig deeper into using different applications like Photoshop this summer!!!
