Persian for America(ns): Welcome and Book Pages

  • creating a welcome page per the client’s request/li>
  • still coding the ‘book’ pages
  • next week: submit welcome page design for approval, then begin coding it

Economic Features

Compilation: Glimpses of three poster images from recent economics features

  • published two new features to the Economics Department’s website, notified the client accordingly
  • per the client’s request: I modified the graphic of an existing feature (replaced the photograph)

ConstitutionMaking.org

  • had a consultation meeting with John Marsh on Thursday, discussed the client’s vision for the project
  • received further details about the project yesterday via email
  • will begin mocking search/discovery interfaces for proposal next week

  • Dr. Hillmann has given the greenlight on the “mint and apricot” design (shown above)

  • Development Progress
    • made sprites for book icons (active,inactive,hover,click)
    • coding of basic layout is complete
    • this week: coding book navigation (accordion effect), implementing lesson material

  • archived three Economics features into past features
  • will publish two new features upon department approval

Flash Tutorial

  • great introductory tutorial by flash and animation guru, John Moore
  • learned the basics of the application
  • three more tutorials on the way!

about the project

Created by Dr. Michael Hillmann, Persian for America(ns) will be an online collection of resources for learning Persian.

status

I’m currently in the process of finishing the design (below). After showing the design to Dr. Hillman, I’ll begin coding the site.

Nick's design for Persian for Americans

I’m using Google’s document viewer (pdf) and audio player (mp3) to present the PFA lesson material within the browser. Students will also be able to download the content for offline consumption.

Psychology News Migration

Preparing for the Psychology departments migration to Cascade, Kathy and I have been loading their legacy news and events into the COLA database.

As of now, all legacy news stories have been added to the COLA database.

TGDP updates for Dr. Hans Boas

I made a handful of updates to Texas German Dialect Project site.
