9/23/24 – 9/26/24

9/23/24 – 9/26/24

I was still going back and forth between working on the STA poster and the Early Voting PSA animations.

Regarding the latter, I spent a lot of time working on the icons since I planned for this one to have a lot more than the previous animation. Below is my first pass at the icons and what I submitted this week for feedback.

The struggle I had with these icons was making sure they looked like they’re from the same family. For my first attempt at them, I believe I did ok- but the icons that have black in them do stand out from the rest.

The STA poster was also due soon, but I became sick around that time and couldn’t do the final edits; however, here is the final version of the poster!

Fall 2024 STA Posters

Project: 2024 STA Roster Posters
Client /Prof: LAITS
Staff guidance: De’sha
Description/plans: The overall theme for the posters is Movie Productions!!
For the Fall semester, we are creating an overall roster poster and individual team posters based on movies.

For the Audio Team Poster, the design will be based on “The Royal Tenenbaums” movie poster.

For the Classroom Support Team Poster, the design will be based on the “Glass Onion” movie poster.

Challenges: The Classroom Support poster was challenging because I had to recreate the outdoor settings of the original poster and create a composition for 14 STAs as opposed to the 9-person cast of Glass Onion. An additional challenge was the variety of poses; some STAs had a wide range, while others had limited options. De’sha and I worked together to establish poses for the 14 STAs to avoid a “crowded” look and to create different levels of visual hierarchy. We also edited some of their clothing, as many wore black, to help them feel more integrated into the scene.

Overall Experience: This was a very fun project to undertake and I loved seeing everyone work on their designated posters! I can’t wait to see them printed out and see the reactions from the other STA teams.

9/16/24 – 9/19/24

This week I was juggling two projects: an STA department poster and an early voting PSA animation. I would go back and forth between what I would work on depending on if I was waiting for feedback for one or the other.

Regarding the STA department poster, I tried to complete this one first due to the deadline. I was assigned the Lifecycle crew and I was to create a poster inspired by the movie “The Usual Suspects.”

In regards to the early voting PSA animation, this week was largely planning. I worked on and submitted an animation proposal. I drew from my past experience with working on the register to vote PSA animation- so I was able to get that done quickly!

Here is the proposal!

One last minor thing I did earlier this week was synch up two different versions of the register to vote PSA to the animation I created for the first one!

9/9/24 – 9/13/24

This entire week I worked in the Voting PSA animation.

Here is the final product:

This animation was my first big animation project here at LAITS. Throughout the process, I learned a lot about Adobe After Effects- a program I was not at all comfortable with until now. Before going into this project, I was worried about my lack of knowledge of After Effects; however, I was surprised how fast I developed a workflow. Overall, working on this animation allowed me to become comfortable with After Effects and create a proper workflow for the rest of the Voting PSA animations I’ll be working on!

GOV312L – Elections

Start: Aug 28, 2024

Staff Guidance: De’sha

Client: GOV312L EL (Albertson, Theriault)

Description: Updating GOV312 course graphics with a new image of the professors

  • Canvas Dashboard
  • Canvas Homepage Banner
  • Course Pre-roll

I received feedback and decided to add a gray gradient overlay/map so the focus was on the course name. I also edited the Professor’s shirt to be less blue so there is no confusion about the class leaning more toward one political party over another.

Basic Training: Web Accessibility Standards

Activity 1: Find 2-3 infographics. Examine how well they abide by web accessibility. Note if there’s anything you would have changed/remediated (low contrast colors, confusing layout, tiny text?). If they seem pretty accessible, explain why.

Activity 2: Visit some sites in your recent browser history to run one of these automated accessibility checkers to scan for especially salient issues. Jot some of these down and take screenshots, sharing any thoughts you have. Pick a site to help remediate.

9/2/24 – 9/5/24

This week I just worked on various iterations of the icons that will be used in the Voting PSA animation I’m working on.

Here are three mockups I created with some of the icon iterations:

We decided to go with the second mockup! I then got the ok to begin the actual animation.
