Cross-check Help Guides

I’ve recently been tasked with cross-checking the old COLA Help Guide (http://www.laits.utexas.edu/colaguides/) with the new one. I created a spreadsheet to keep track of my progress, and I think it’s looking good so far.

I’m asking Estella and Bridget to look over one particular guide (old) where it explains the roles of admins / editors, etc., which I think might be useful for our KB site, particularly on guiding STAs on how to set up a new Cascade site for the client and granting them roles. I’m not too sure about this specifically, so I’m waiting for their review on that!

KB Continued. 

I did some more edits on the KB and was putting something together from other STAs. I worked on my banner to submit for the “contest”. I was going to get started on V-labs but I had lots of questions and the psds were hard to find so it is on pause until tomorrow.

Continued work again today on the Assets for a Chemistry class. They asked for a new stinger, so I made one based off of an atom.

I also updated the opacity on these title slides. And added an image that they actually had given me as a reference as an option as either a stinger or another title slide.

Vlabs

This week I’m continuing to work on Vlabs updates, and so far I’ve finished 12 interactives (some are still pending approval though). Each update goes through 2 rounds of approval first by another STA, then by the professor, who sometimes comes back with additional corrections. These have been going pretty smoothly, except sometimes if you do too many in a row your brain starts to melt, lol.

Canvasser Tutorial for the KB

I’m also collaborating with Abriella to start to drafting out a Canvasser tutorial that’s going to become a basic training on the Knowledge Base. It’s still in the early stages, but hopefully we will have it finished in the next week or couple weeks.

In the past we’ve only had Canvasser tutorials that are specific to projects like Vlabs and Texas Beyond History, so this basic training is going to be more of a general introduction to Canvasser. In the training, STAs will design and build their own interactive game, which I think will be really fun and also a great way to learn how Canvasser works and the possible elements and effects that you can use.
