STA Hiring Poster

November 9, 2021 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

STA Hiring Poster

project: STA Hiring Poster
Client /Prof: STA Department
completion status: Started November 2nd 2021
staff guidance: Maddy
STA team members: Sheryl
description/plans: Design a hiring poster for all of the STA departments
To be completed: N/A

Notes:

For this project, we want to include the design, web development, audio, and video STAs all on one hiring poster.

  • Make sure they know each department is a separate application
  • Grab the viewer’s attention
  • Contains all the important information about the STA program
  • Showcase that it is a UT job – branding, Header

Things to consider:

  • What is the best way to fit all the information on the page?
  • What will grab someone’s attention?
  • What information NEEDS to be on the poster?

Design Evolution:

Version 1: create a distinction between the different department that they can apply to. Different layout?

Version 2: Don’t use lighter versions of the STA colors. Find a new expressive way to get their attention.

Version 3:

Version 4: Like the swirl of color. How to adjust the megaphone and the typography.

Work, continued

November 5, 2021 By Megan Fletcher

More LRC flyer, photo ID training, continued

This week, I continued to work on the LRC flyer’s expanded design, the new photo ID training, photo ID editing, and the brochure training. I was able to condense the three-page draft into two with Valerie’s help, and hopefully the client will like it. I also created the master Basecamp assignment for the new photo ID training. I also met with Maddy about edits from her and Mike to my Chatter write-up.

Week 10

Project: COLA Website Refresher
Client /Prof: N/A (College of Liberal Arts)
Completion Status: Started August 25, 2021
Staff guidance: Michelle Vanhoose, Chris Rankin
STA team members: Ingrid, Adrian
description/plans: Continue migrating data from the old CMS to the new CMS
To be completed: TBD (long-term)

This past week has been a lot of finalizing COLA pages and double checking as well as fixing. The site is set to go live soon so there hasn’t been too many new pages to migrate. It is exciting that they demoed the site to the COLA senior staff already and is in its final stages before it goes live.

Project: Blanton Website Migration

Staff guidance: Ruben Garza
STA team members: Asmita, Marianne, Angie, Abriella
description/plans: Work on migrating the current Blanton museum website pages to the WordPress site
To be completed: TBD (long-term)

For Blanton, I believe the exhibition pages are finished and I am working on finding alternate text for images for the site, which is another extensive task.

Training – Pixel Art

November 2, 2021 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

Pixel Art Training

I also was able to complete the pixel art training. Here are the results. Overall, this training was really fun. I learned how to use only a few colors to represent an object and find ways to still include depth in the image.

Cascade Edits

November 2, 2021 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

Cascade – Spring 2022 Online Course Schedule

Last week, I worked on the editing the spring 2022 online course schedule site. I was just instructed to make it look identical to the fall 2021 online course schedule.

I used some HTML and basic copy and paste to get the site where it needed to be. The only problem was trying to get the banner uploaded with only 200 KBs. I had to convert the banner to a jpeg instead of a png to get it to upload correctly.

More LRC flyer

November 1, 2021 By Megan Fletcher

This last week (more LRC flyer)

I haven’t had a ton of shifts since I last posted, but I’ve mostly been working on the flyer design advertising the Visiting Scholars Program at the Linguistics Research Center and the photo ID KB.

The LRC provided the copy (words) for the flyer, and well, it’s a lot. Our current proposal is to make a packet, seeing as each page is the regular 8.5 x 11 inch paper (mostly digital).

Photo ID KB progress

The photo ID KB revisions are almost done! This last week, I added:

  • Photo submission guidelines
  • A few exceptions to photo submission rules
    • Faculty photos with medical masks
    • Naval Science cropping to show medals for 200×300 photos
  • What do to with photos that don’t meet guidelines, but might be good for the body of a faculty member’s profile page
  • A separate KB article for email templates regarding all things photo IDs
