I’ve been working more on my logo design training and decided to take a step back and figure out ways to make it a single color while incorporating my original font and ideas. I feel like in these the contrast between the L and the C isn’t quite enough so it starts looking like an LE or some kind of indistinguishable text, but I think I like this direction a little better.

I’m pretty much on the final steps of completing the UTFC 9.3 module. I uploaded all the approved images to box, updated them in the provided powerpoint, and now it’s off to be reviewed.
While it wasn’t a project that requires any artistic outlook or creativity, it was a very simple and somewhat relaxing project to work on. I’m also glad that now that I have experience with the image finding portion of it, I can be helpful with more tasks involved with it in the future.
While I didn’t complete this training this week, I learned more about where design elements come from and trends in design through history. For the training, we have to emulate our favorite design trend in history. I’m doing 2 as I like the Dada collages a lot but need more practice in Illustrator.
I’ll be able to show off those projects next week!

Description: I had to design a digital flyer promotion for the Department of Geography & the Environment. They wanted to advertise some of the courses they offer and display this promotional graphics on campus. My first iteration, I tried out some new designs and colors. I decided to place the venn diagram at the center of the three different images, each depicting the word inside.
Afterwards, a tried out a new design that changed the colors and organization of the information. I tried out two color for the lines separating the images, black and white. Afterward I recreated the icons for the venn diagram in illustrator to match the ones provided in the files since I couldn’t find them online.
After the previous flyer design was completed, I was assigned another flyer for GRG 356T. This one had 6 images that needed to be included in a grid-like manner. For my first iteration I chose a color scheme consisting of light and dark blues with a light tan accent color. However, after brainstorming some more, I decided to change the color scheme to a darker blue and orange to complement the images and minimized distractions in the overall flyer design. Additionally, on the second iteration I increased the font size and made all the text white unless it was information that needed to pop.
For my final iteration, I realigned the texts to create a smoother appearance, resized some objects, and moved the color accent bar to the bottom.
