AFR Course Graphic

January 11, 2021 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

AFR Course Graphic

I’m currently still working on the AFR course graphic. The first design I create was kinda spontaneous, but I learn from that design to create something that would be blocked by the professor.

I wanted to go with a grid or collage for the graphic, but the grid that was created was still missing something with the design.

I decided to go with a collage and bring more character the the layout of the images.

Once I created the basic structure of the graphic, I was able to incorporate different design elements in black and white and sepia.

We decided to go with the sepia color and have the images more spread apart. In addition, we added a textured overlay with the map design in the background. I also edited the pictures to look older than their original format.

With some additional changes to the graphic, such as the change in location of the pioneer woman and MLK. I was able to create the final design for the course graphic.

For the desk skirt and vertical monitor I had to make similar changes to the design to make them consistent and connected.

AFR Canvas Graphics

The next part of this project was creating canvas graphics. Originally the canvas banner and dashboard had MLK in the center. But the professor preferred to replace the image with the pioneer woman. In addition, we wanted to change the graphic to a lighter shade of red.

These are the final results of the canvas graphics with the callout buttons.

Overall, this was an exciting project to work on. I learn so many different applications for photoshop and I was able to create some visually appealing designs for the professor.

CLIO Training

November 24, 2020 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

CLIO Training

For this week I have been working on the CLIO training. My course will be focused on early beginnings of animation. I have added most of my content to the course and I’m currently adding in the background.

I wanted the background to be whimsical and match well with the color palette chosen for the course. At first, I used characters as the background, but it didn’t look well. So I decided to go in a different direction and I believe it worked a lot better.

Course Graphic Training

November 12, 2020 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

Course Graphic

For the past couple of weeks I have been working on the course graphics training. I started off with two designs.

They both were visually appealing designs, but there was still something missing to make it a design that will capture the students attend, but wouldn’t distract them from the professor.

I decided to continue with the grid design, but add in the original painting as the background.

This was the path I wanted to go in for this course graphic. I felt that it was a perfect balance between simple and complex. However, the resolution of the image was really blurry and I was unable to find a larger size of this image.

As a result, I decided to research other paintings by the artist and come across a colorful master piece that would be the focus for the course graphic.

I began working on the additional assets that would be included in the course graphic package. I decided to have the based color to be a navy blue color.

The graphics were turning out great. However, the black border for the grid was contradicting the light colors of the other graphic. As a result, I ended up changing the black to the same navy blue color to make everything more in sync.

Overall, I believe I created a successful course graphic that is both visually appealing and applies well to the theme of the course.

Religiology Logo

October 16, 2020 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

Religiology Logo

I was given the task to create some logo design drafts for a religiology website. I was given a color scheme of natural green tones and was given some sketches by the client for inspiration.

When think of the concept I envisioned the use of trees and geometry. Trees equal growth, prosperity and showcase how we are rooted into our faith. That is how my first design was created.

I was having trouble at first creating my second design, but I decided to continue with the theme of trees. The difference with the second design is that I used a triangle as the shape to surround the tree to represent the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In addition, triangles are the strongest shape.

Based on review, we decided that the vision of the second design is best to present to the client and I had to create some adjustment to the image, such as thickening the second line and changing the colors of the tree and leaves. These are the edits I came up with.

I included different variations of the trees, ranging from different colors and perspectives. Lastly, I did more edits on the images.

Cascade Training Part 2

I was finally able to complete the cascade training part two. This training was coding heavy, but I enjoyed seeing the final products of this training. Here is the entire opening page for my site. I had to keep true to myself and include the pink and the flowers.

Custom Buttons

For the second part of the training, I was tasked with creating tables, custom buttons, and pull quotes. For the custom buttons, I included sections about the Animation process, the importance of Character design, and the creation of Walt Disney Animation Studios. These are some of the most important topics in relation to Animation.

Pull Quotes

For the pull quotes part of the cascade training, I included information about the history of Animation. I included two types of pulled quotes. Both in different locations and different formats.
