Week 11/15 – 11/28

November 29, 2022 By Leilani Cabello

UTFC Greenscreen: 8.2B Countryside & Farming

Project: UTFC Greenscreen
Due On: December 2nd
Notes: For this project, I was assigned to find pictures with elements of the countryside and farming from Saint-Denis or Reunion Island in France.

This PowerPoint was a bit tricky considering that there are not too many images of farming in Saint-Denis. I had to do a bit of research and reverse image searching to make sure the images provided were legitimate.

Color Theory Training

Project: Basic Training: Color Theory
Notes: For this training, the main goal to get out of this lesson is to get a full understanding of how color works and interacts for the purpose of improving designs. Although the activity asks me to make my own color scheme and color wheel, I wanted to have fun with this assignment and make it a bit more challenging.

Week 11

Project: CTX Retold

Start: September 21th 2022

To be Completed: Dec 1st 2022

Staff Guidance: Maddy

Link to Prototype

This week Celeste pointed out Dr.Gordon and her loves picture-driven narrative and wonder a more-designed website.

Improvement:

  • bigger cards with smaller margin between
  • noticeable font choice
  • more design elements on the banner

Project: Color Theory

Start: Nov 29th 2022

To be Completed: Dec 1st 2022

I started a new training on Color Theory, which asks me to illustrate tint, shade, and tone to the pure RGB primary color: yellow, blue and red.

  • Tint: add white to a pure hue
  • Shade: add black to a pure hue
  • Tone: add grey to a pure hue.

I use the layers of waves to represent the altered value that added to the pure hue gradually, creating a slow transition.

GOV312L Animated Intro

November 29, 2022 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

GOV 312L US National Security Intro Draft

This was the first proof of concept with the template for the possible animated intro. Since this course was going to be pre-recorded, the intro needed to only be 10 seconds long. Therefore, I needed to cut out some scenes in the After Effect file and added in the images appropriately.

After creating the proof of concept, it was important to make sure the course graphics were all cohesive. Therefore, I created the baseline with the animated intro.

  • Make the images Grayscale
  • Make the words white
  • Alter the glowing light to represent the green and red in the Iraq flag.

These were the last revisions on the animated intro. With that, the professor has now informed us that they would no longer want an animated intro for the course. Therefore, I think the was helpful to see how Motion Array templates operate for future projects.

Week LIII

November 29, 2022 By Adrian McKee

Week LIII

GOV 312L US National Security

I’ll keep it short. Just mostly worked on this.

Working with a request for red and green highlights, my first attempt was a little more archival/sepia.

We ended up going for a more “breaking news” look with red/green gradients.

However, as of writing it looks like I’ll need to rework these a bit. Wish me luck!

Week 11

WordPress Training

Started on: Nov 14, 2022

Completed on: Nov 16, 2022

Description: It took me a lot of time to look around for WordPress Training. Eventually, I landed on one training that involves using Elementor Plugin and using some PhP for the backend of the customizable theme. The tutorial is about the legal website for some imaginary law firm and this is what I have so far. I have done the footer and header as well as the features for the law firm.

But upon completing the project, I talked to Stacy and I knew that I needed to take another training if I want to learn more about WordPress from a developer point of view. So Stacy directed me to the WordPress main website and helped me find different other resources to train.

Stacy’s Project

Started on: Nov 16, 2022

Completed on: Nov 17, 2022

Description: This project involves me converting columns of different projects that Stacy has in the database into different text files for each project. I used Python to help me access to CSV files and query through different columns so that I can get a hold for different information that I want. Then, I convert each different column as a separate text files for Stacy.

Monfils Lab Projecy

Started on: Nov 28, 2022

Completed on: Nov 29, 2022

Description: This project is about updating the website for Dr. Monfils’ laboratory. It involves migrating the content from the old website that she has to the new one that uses Grav. Last week, I sent email asking if she was still interested in updating the website. She responded more and more with her feedback on the look of the new site. I updated the banner to the image that she attached and updated the title of the header to the name of her lab.

Other small tasks:

  1. Answering Email for Dr. Monfils Lab
  2. Completed the evaluation

Week 11

[UTCF] Greenscreen 8.1B Meat, Seafood, and Dairy

Completion status: Started Nov 14, 2022
Staff guidance: Yazz Fawaz
Description/plans: STA is to find images for each word in the list and create a PowerPoint with accompanying french text on the slide.
To be completed: Nov 15, 2022

Making this PPT was actually very enjoyable because it included new vocab I learned just last week in my French class (FR 406)! Many of these words were familiar which aided me in finding the appropriate images for each slide. I imagine these PPTs are shown to the in-person French courses since I don’t see these and my class is web-based. Also, since most of the vocab was everyday food items, there were many options of photos to choose from (in contrast to 7.1B Fashion where the vocab was very culturally/geographically specific). I really like communicating with Yazz about which images accurately represent the word’s meaning. it’s almost like a mini-review session for French.

Basic Training: Learning the Principles and Elements of Design

This training was a flashback to all of the elements and principles lessons I’ve had over the years in my art classes. It was fun to be able to source images that I thought illustrated each element/principle. Oftentimes, multiple elements are at work to create an image, not just one. For instance, color can be used to emphasize objects, and lines can create movement, etc. Since all of the art itself was pretty colorful, I kept the PPT text and background color fairly simple and neutral.

PSY 306 Course Graphics

Completion status: Started Nov 29, 2022
Staff guidance: Maddy
Description/plans: Recolor the “Quiz” stinger to purple, and swap out the text for “Bonus Question”. Originally we wanted a lighter purple, but the legibility of it against the white was not very compatible.
To be completed: Nov 29, 2022
