I have not uploaded in a while, but I have worked on a lot of stuff that i’m really excited about. I was able to complete my cascade site and work on some Photo IDs.
My cascade site is an online portfolio for my creations. I also talk about the importance of the black community and being an animator. This site was really fun to make and I believe it truly represents me.
I have also worked on a lot of photo IDs lately.
This week I’ve been continuing studio graphic training, working on IDs, and starting COLA Guides edits. I met with Abriella, Thuy, Bridget, and Sheryl to talk about these edits. Today (Friday) I’ve spent most of my shift working on captioning for the E316M class. It was my first time doing real captioning edits (I did a bit for the Texas Politics podcasts, but that just involved copying and pasting the auto captions from the UT Libraries’ software). This was a bit more intensive than I expected, just because it involved a lot of rewinding and some guesswork to get each and every word as close to as what was really said as possible.
This week I worked on Photo IDs, Photo Edits for the STA Poster and my Canvasser game. Here’s one of the Photo IDs I was working on.
Below are images of the assets for my canvasser game. Everything is ready, I’m just waiting on Bridget to approve my PSD file. Next week I’ll be uploading everything to Canvasser and hopefully get the game running!
I started off my Canvasser activity planning to create an interactive map of penguins in the southern hemisphere in which you would click a point in the map and a pop-up would show the type of penguin that lived in that specific location. Here’s some previews I made:
Unfortunately, the activity wasn’t related to my CLIO website topic, so I came up with another idea. The player would be looking at a house located in Austin. They would be able to see the patterns of sunlight and shadows throughout the day, and make an assessment of which walls get the most sunlight.
This would be the interface that prompts the start of the activity:

On Wednesday, I started making the tutorial for cutting out hair and finer objects in Photoshop. I wrote out the instructions on Basecamp and chose some photos for STAs to work on. I picked easy, medium, and hard choices:
My graphics are going to be used as a sample in a meeting tomorrow 🙂 I reworked the screens, adding a light yellow overlay to warm up the graphic and wash it out a bit so it doesn’t overpower the prof/TA:
Hope this goes well! This was a fun assignment, kind of broke my brain a bit at the end after having to export all of my files for a third time, but still very happy with the end result.
