Humanities Banner

May 25, 2021 By Megan Fletcher

Humanities Banner

I got a small assignment last week to create a new web banner for the Humanities Institute and upload it to Cascade. I made a few drafts in Illustrator with the institute’s new logo.

The drafts are either solid or textured or blue or gray. The texture is the ball-and-line element from the logo faded almost all the way into the background to add depth and dress up the banner a bit. The color version of the logo’s dom color is blue (hence the blue option) and the grayscale version was provided to give some options.

COM 302 Intro Animation Evolution

May 25, 2021 By Abriella Corker

COM 302 Intro Animation Evolution

I was working a lot more on trying to get the intro animation right. I wasn’t too happy with how the first one came out because it felt empty and underdeveloped. I did another version where I add more icons to the same frame so it feels more full and then onto the title slide as well. From there I realized it could use a bit more color and movement throughout so then I did version three. Maddy gave me feedback on coloring for the ribbons, keeping the time short, speeding up the last frame, so that’s what I did. the last video in this sequence is what I sent over for the professor to preview.

CC303: Studio & Course Graphics

May 24, 2021 By Cristina Villarreal Núñez

CC303: Studio & Course Graphics

For this project I had to create a new set of graphics for the Liberal Arts course CC 303: Introduction to Classical Mythology. I was tasked to create 7 different deliverables from three different categories as listed below, mostly in what we identify as Style B and for the buttons, the square designs.

Category 1 – Canvas Graphics

1. Dashboard graphic
2. Homepage banner
3. Buttons in all standard options

Category 2 – PPT Slides

1. Course Title Slide
2. Lecture Segment Slide

Category 3 – Studio Set

1. Digital Backdrop
2. Desk Skirt

For the colors. the instructor did not seem to have a preference so I sticked to the official UT branding color palette. Additionally, I was given two assets to work with. One of them was the official branding for the department of Classics, and the other was the following image:

Additionally, I was tasked to work on the PPT deliverables before anything else and as soon as possible. So, I got down to business. My original attempt at all of these designs had a blue text box, but that didn’t quite work. So, as suggested by a fellow STA, I changed that to sandstone color from the secondary UT color palette.

Here’s how the PPT turned out:

And here’s a look at everything else, through the course graphics design menu…

ECO 304L Animation

May 24, 2021 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

ECO304L Final Animation

I finally finished the entire animation for the ECO304L course. It consist of 3 different types of currencies folding into different origami shapes. This project was difficult at times to figure out how to mimic how the shape folds, but I really enjoyed creating it. I was able to go beyond my own creativity and do something completely different.

ECO304L Design Assets

After I completed the animation, I worked on the course graphics for this course. These assets are from the style B template. Since the theme of the animation was different currencies, I wanted to also use that in the course graphic. Therefore, I used an image of different currency bills rolled up. I also used the same blue color in the graphics like in the animation.

Updating Icons for Portfolio

May 20, 2021 By Poonum Mehta

Hiya blõg today I created some icons to be put in an infographic portfolio that will be shown to clients. Here are the original icons, we initially got these from The Noun Project:

To create updated graphics, I combined shapes and line paths in illustrator, like so. The first image shows the ellipse and triangle that I combined to make a fish:

Maddy and I decided on doing curved corners for all the graphics, here’s the finished product! :

Loooved doing this honestly, icon creation is so fun because there’s no one right way of getting to your finished product 🙂
