In-progress Icons:

  • Quiz
  • TA (rebranding)

Currently, we are working towards completing the last two animations in the animation refresh project.

For the Quiz icon, we are focusing on the timing and sequencing of the different frames in the animation. Once that is complete, this animation should be completed too.

The TA icon is undergoing a complete rebrand. The icon looks too similar to the chat icon and we want to distinct between them. Therefore, Rachel will be working on a new design for this icon.

Design Fundamentals – Branding Training

September 13, 2021 By Abriella Corker

DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS – BRANDING TRAINING

Athena wrote a training on how to develop a brand and creating a brand book. It was one of our most recent trainings we have had made for the STAs so I was going through it for user testing and feedback. There was a lot of good information in there and a lot of other things to edit in or edit out. I went ahead and completed the full training so that my asset can be an STA example from the training, and then I will go in and make the structural changes the training needed. I was giving feedback to Athena but she has graduated and moved onto to great things so I will finish the task under the direction of Maddy! Click to see my PDF Below:

Here was the Brief of the Project:

Café Restaurant  – 6 to 7 hours

  • Name: Fairy Forest Cafe
  • Mission statement: Our mission is to inspire wonder and magic in the day-to-day. We are a 24-hour cafe welcome to all those who wish to enjoy a warm beverage, mingle, study, read, or just sit and enjoy the ambiance.
  • 3-5 adjectives: whimsical, natural, cozy, fresh, relaxed
  • Messaging: Magical
  • Audience: in an urban environment, typically serves students and young twenty/thirty somethings who are looking to get a good read on, do work, and perhaps mingle with fellow coffee goers in a casual manner. These twenty to thirty somethings love organization, “quirky” things, and consuming caffeinated products.
  • Type of restaurant – coffee, desserts, refreshments, and some light food (think sandwiches and soups). Like halfway between Bennu and this cafe (El Bosc de les Fades)

Third Blog Post

September 13, 2021 By Asmita Karmakar

Hi! This week was much like my last and I spent a majority of my time working on the Blanton Migration Project.

Project: Blanton Website Migration
Client /Prof: Blanton Museum
completion status: started work on August 23 and still continuing
staff guidance: Ruben Garza
STA team members: Marianne, Angie
description/plans: Work on migrating the current Blanton museum website pages to the WordPress site

I spent hours and hours working on the Past exhibition page which contains exhibitions dating back to 2001 and each exhibition has its own linked page with info about it.

It took me a while to create the individual pages for all the exhibitions and then link them to the parent page (past exhibitions) and figuring out the formatting of the exhibition pages which Marianne kindly helped me with . I will still be working on this going into the following week.

September 13, 2021 By Sheryl Long

Project: HIS314K Map Update
Client /Prof: Dr. Zamora
completion status: Completed
staff guidance/team: Maddy
description/plans: Recreate the textbook map, make it more visually appealing and engaging.
Changes made since last post:

Color coded each item. Re-illustrated arrows (tippy ends). Added icons to represent each item

Now starts with an empty map, more contrast and less overwhelming.

Highlight each trade route throughout the slides.

The Week of Returning Projects

September 13, 2021 By Angie Huang

The Week of Returning Projects

Project: Blanton Website Project
Client /Prof: UT Austin Blanton Art Museusm
Completion status: In Progress
Staff guidance: Ruben Garza
STA team members: Angie Huang, Marianne Lê, Asmita Karmakar
Description/plans: Migration of Blaton Website; I will be reviewing pages for consistent layout, text, and links.
To be completed: Unknown

On Monday, I corrected all Intensive Turkish II quizzes (OCIL Project) to have unlimited attempts. Dr. Okur also wants to adjust the visibility of correct answers after quiz attempts, which I currently do not have a solution for. I guess that this is possible through settings in “Restrict Student Result View” but will wait to hear back from the professor and Karyn Kondoff. This returning assignment is in progress.

I also updated the Figma for LatinxpopLab last week to include images and a brief introduction of Professor Aldama and his book. He now wants to add program information on the home page but has not yet provided the information for this update. This returning assignment is in progress.

I am currently reviewing pages for the Blanton Website Project. I will meet with STAs Marianne and Asmita before the next weekly meeting regarding this assignment.
