First week

January 24, 2020 By Ishan Kamat

Finished my orientation tasks and began working with WordPress. I got my own development environment configured on my laptop for learning purposes, and I cloned the wp-maintenance repository so that I can go through it and understand what each function does. I also became familiar with wp-cli and its functions. I also connected to the LAITS development server after resolving an issue with my laptop’s routing table.

Learning some PHP currently through a website called learnXinYminutes. Hope to go more in-depth in the coming weeks!

German FrameNet Website

January 24, 2020 By Jalisa Broussard

I’m working to make the German FrameNet website responsive. I’ve given a flexible width to all of the body content and made the side menu collapse into a hamburger menu when the screen width is under 800 pixels. The other pages within the site need these changes added to them. The “recent” area also needs to be updated to a newer style.

PSY 352 Dress Rehearsal

January 24, 2020 By Thuy H Nguyen

PSY 352 Dress Rehearsal

PSY 352 IS LIVEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I have class during the live section of the class so I can’t make it :(, but Gladys and Emily have kindly provided me with some pictures taken during the dress rehearsal. Emily told me that Professor Beevers really like the design, and everyone was very happy with the set design as well :3 yayyy. The video team also did an amazing job animating the art work, so a big THANK YOU to them!

I’ll see if I can skip a lecture one day to go see the class live haha. But here are the pictures from the dress rehearsal.

And here’s the link to the intro animation by video team: https://utexas.app.box.com/s/qy1wnma0dk7k9upcbu0oze7vhs8yncm2

COERLL – H5P HTML5 Video Remediation

January 24, 2020 By Thuy H Nguyen

COERLL – H5P HTML5 Video Remediation

Project: COERLL – H5P HTML5 Video Remediation

Client: Nathalie Steinfeld Childre

Completion status: in progress

STA team members: Jake Engelbert, Abriella Corker, Bridget Kessler

Description / plans: add pop-ups and captions for Portuguese videos on WordPress

Abriella, Bridget and I worked on Jake’s H5P Video Remediation project. Videos are essentially migrated from the old website (https://coerll.utexas.edu/brazilpod/cob/) to WordPress.

The task is pretty straight forward since it involves a lot of repeated works. We just need to upload the videos, the caption files (.vtt), and add the pop-up links according to the time stamps Nathalie and Jake has marked. We started over the break and Nathalie reviewed them once, so today I just made some edits requested by her.

How the pop-ups and captions look after editing.

French Reformatting

January 24, 2020 By Maddy Kaniewski

Back at it

I had a nice break from school and LAITS, I got to see my cat, knit a lot, and visit Enchanted Rock. I’m back and ready to get working again 🙂

We are updating the formatting for an online French course. Mostly we are making sure section headers are accurate and follow the new styling.

We are using very basic CSS to edit each lesson. This standardization will help the students by improving the clarity of the course and making it look more professional.

First post

January 23, 2020 By Sheryl Long

Hello!

I am a sophomore Arts & Entertainment Technologies major focusing on 3D environment and visual effect.

This is my first week as a STA. For orientation, we toured the offices (the audio lab was awesome!), set up all the accounts, and read through the STA handbook. After orientation, I designed a short powerpoint that illustrates the 5 main points from the STA handbook and began to create my caricature and blog banner.

After this post I will be working on completing the photo ID training and keep this blog updated.

Thank you for reading through my blog!
