This is my first custom course package, the communication process was definitely a lot more complicated than remote course projects. I never worked on any studio set graphics so there were confusions but it was an interesting learning experience. I was able to hand off the graphics right before the deadline but I think design wise there is a lot of space for improvement. Hopefully I get another custom course project, it was fun 🙂
Professor Scott wanted a design that matches his lecture, so we used the 3 color in his keynote slides as our main color palette.
I found some images online and edited them to create mock-ups for the PMs
La’ Kayla liked the third design, and Suloni pointed out that the professor is looking for something that shows variations of data visualization so I based my designs on different types of graphs.
I came up with 3 designs
Personally I like the grid layout the most.
I moved forward with the grid design

In addition to Cascade, I also worked on digital monitor backdrops this week. These are my final drafts for review. I don’t have much to say regarding this assignment, other than that I had a lot of fun exercising my photo editing skills in Photoshop. Also, this assignment makes me miss the campus- I hope it won’t be long before things return to normal and I can enjoy Austin again :’)

This week I completed the “CMS Cascade Site Training” assignment on Basecamp. This is my final test site -> https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/sta-8/
The assignment was probably *the* most difficult project I’ve worked on thus far, as I am not experienced with web design/editing. Furthermore, this was my very first time using Cascade. However, with Thuy’s help with the media player and navigation bar, I learned a lot from going through the KB instructions. It’ll be very exciting to use Cascade and the skills I’ve gained in future assignments!
Today, I got an assignment to create some Canvas graphics and a PowerPoint template for the basic English Lit TAs’ orientation. For now, I’m going with the dark blue from the UT secondary palette. Ideally, I would associate English lit with brown, but that’s not a brand color. Blue it is. So far, I’ve done the Canvas callout buttons:
It’s pretty smooth sailing so far. On Monday, I’ll do the rest of the Photoshop work for the Canvas dashboard and home page banner.
UPDATE: I have to redo them on Monday with new text! No problem, though.
