Color Correction Training

September 4, 2020 By Megan Fletcher

Fun with color correction!

Abriella made a great training on color correction and as someone who doesn’t know much of anything about color theory or color balance, it was super helpful. Here are some of my edited photos from the training:

This week I worked mostly on photo IDs, color correction training, and wrapped up my Clio training. I’m fairly happy with how my module turned out — it’s basically a survival course on basic German for tourists (because in my humble opinion as an Anglophone traveler it’s quite easy to become complacent and not make an effort to respect different cultures and at least try to use their language, but I digress).

Here’s a couple IDs I did as well.

With only two days working this week, I didn’t have quite enough time to achieve anything extraordinary — the biggest thing I’ve worked on is the Clio Part 2 training. Thuy has been wonderful in helping me along the way, and right now one of the things I’m trying to fix is the background; as you can probably see, it repeats, and unless I find a huge high resolution image, I need to find a way to design the background image so even when it’s repeated it looks relatively seamless. In any case, this is what I have so far.

In Other News…

In Other News…

This week, I also did some photo IDs and gave feedback on a bunch of InDesign trainings. It’s super helpful to see where people tend to struggle or make design mistakes at the moment because I’m about to start help train layout designers at the Daily Texan (wish me luck).

In other news, Angie tells me Dr. Iverson’s class really appreciated the animation (credit goes to her on the scuba diver, though)!

AI Live Trace

AI Live Trace Training

I use Live Trace a lot at the Daily Texan to vectorized stock icons for infographics, but I rarely use it for photos, so this training was neat to do. I have a Macbook Air, though, so every time I tried to copy the AI vector into Photoshop, my computer got hot and froze up. It seemed to work with just one vector layer instead of multiple, though.

It’s been some time since I updated my blog! Over the last week, I wrapped up support work at the RSC — so I’m back to working from home. As of yesterday, the fall semester is back in session, so I’m beginning to adjust to my new schedule as well. Since I neglected to update my blog last week, here’s some examples of what I’ve been working on!

This simple deer trace took a long time to complete! This was due to my Photoshop settings being set slightly askew, but eventually I ended up with this satisfying final product 🙂

Here’s the first round of edits I made for part three of the AI shape manipulation training!
