Trainings, RSC Updates

August 12, 2020 By Ingrid Alberding

This week has marked a big change in my workday — instead of working at home, I’m stationed in Mezes to help with RSC-related tasks and work on assigned projects when I have time. I feel fairly comfortable being here, as everything is more than sufficiently socially distanced (I have a whole room to myself!) and masks are always mandatory. I’ve been helping mostly with “resetting” studios after professors leave, as I work in the afternoon. This includes tasks like wiping down all high-contact surfaces and making sure microphones are charging.

As far as usual design STA-related tasks, here’s some things I’ve been working on.

Clio training was definitely enjoyable, I design a very basic German module. Here’s some screenshots.

I also worked on an animated 8bit GIF since I’ll be the person giving feedback on that basic training for the new STA. Here’s what I made:

IDs, Course Graphic Training, and a Logo (!)

August 6, 2020 By Ingrid Alberding

Hello,

It’s been a while, blog. Since being gone this week, lots has happened, and I thought I’d share my progress here.

Here’s some examples of a few IDs I’ve been assigned this week. There’s something really soothing about editing them, so I can’t say I don’t enjoy processing them. These two were both simple enough, although the first one required some color correction — a balancing act, since while the severely red/warm tones were unflattering, if I made it too cool-toned I ran the risk of washing out her naturally warmer skin tone.

Next, I’ve been working on course graphic training. Between the two styles I dabbled in, I preferred B, and I think it especially turned out nicely for this course, ARH 332K – Northern Renaissance Art 1350-1500, that I am registered to take in the fall (and super excited about). Here’s the design menu I recently produced for it. The background for the images is from Dürer’s print, The Patron Saints of Austria. :^)

Lastly, I just finished my first draft for a new informal logo for a new major (exciting, I know!), Race, Indigeneity, and Migration. The design brief asked for something super simple, and I used the font Josefin Sans for now, but that is subject to change.

I’ve been working mostly on my Cascade site this past week, and here’s some progress. It’s been fun talking about Berlin (perhaps ad nauseam, but oh well). I’ve added some more advanced features, such as html/css tables, and in the “more info” page have made some custom buttons. I hope you enjoy perusing!

The past week has been busy, but very fulfilling! I’ve been working on an assortment of Basic Training modules as well as digital studio backgrounds. Just recently, I finished the basic training for Cascade, and below is a screenshot of my test site:

I started working on the intermediate training for Cascade as well. I themed it off Berlin, one of my favorite cities and place I have a lot of opinions about.
