School is almost starting, so more things are getting a lot busier. This past week, I got to work on a bunch of animation related things. First, I copied the character costume for the waiter onto their walk cycle:

I also worked on the pedestrian, adventurer, and cafe owner walk cycles. Then I worked on the boat rowing cycle:

Then I worked on animating the fish objects I created before. This was a new and fun assignment because I worked with motion tweens for the first time.

I also lined and added to some watercolor backgrounds. I did the kitchen oven door and two angles for the bus stop:

I’ve also been working on psy333d. I’m going to be going into the studio to color correct on the spot Wednesday, but I made the canvas banner:

I finished making another watercolor assignment! This time it was a folk art piece that will be going on the kitchen wall. Here’s how it turned out:

I also worked on more set design for psy333D;

After the screen testing, the desk monitor ended up being too blue, so I changed the redness of the image –>

After these edits, the purple matches a lot better. However, it is still too bright/intense so I need to work on making it more “grayed”:

I also have screenshots of the canvas dash:

More Set Design for PSY333D

August 9, 2018 By Estella Sun

Suloni suggested I make a Digital Monitor version that included silhouettes of children instead to make the overall image less busy.

I also made an additional vertical monitor that will go behind the TA. This is the solid version:

Editing a Swim Cycle and Watercolor Background

August 9, 2018 By Estella Sun

I got assigned some new stuff for Russian this week! First was importing character costumes onto a swim cycle. I used the adventurer character and transferred his clothing and hair into the swim cycle file. It was interesting to learn this new step in the animation process.

I also got my first watercolor background assignment. I was tasked to make the ocean floor. I enjoyed getting to experiment with the Kyle Webster brushes.

This past week I had a lot of animation assignments, so here we go!

First, I created car overheads with three color variations of each + the taxi overhead:

I also made a trash can with a detachable lid + added angles to the adventurer character:

I also took over an assignment for Bridget. I had to make variations of some fish (this was my favorite one to do):

I also got assigned to make the set design for PSY333D at the end of last week, so here’s my progress so far:

Bridget wanted three versions of the desk skirt:

She also wanted a canvas dashboard graphic:

And for the desk monitor, she wanted a purple tint and various images of children, so this is what I came up with:

I think it might be too cluttered, but without seeing it in context, I can’t be sure.

Finally, I also started my idea for NWAV49!

This is the first version:

and here’s the 2nd version after adding some details (+ a website mockup):

I worked on more objects for Russian this week! First, I was assigned to make a moving van.

I kept everything basically the same as the reference image except for the green/gray back part of the truck.

I also made transparent plastic bags for the cookies:

For illustrations, I worked on a new one where Little Prince is looking out the window at a bird in an apple tree.

Process:

This initial sketch showed Little Prince facing outwards, with the emphasis placed on the tree and bird.

Then, based on feedback from Kathy and Suloni, I changed up the composition to show Little Prince’s face, so that it was more obvious what he is staring at.

After coloring, this is what it ended up looking like:
