Color Corection Presentation and Canvasser

October 22, 2020 By Miguel Yapur

Color Correction Slides

I worked with Maddy and Abriella putting together some slides for the STAs to see how we went about doing color corrections for Studios 6 and 10. We finally presented them today during/after the STA Meeting. The slides I worked mostly on were 28-57:

I also worked along with Abriella to compose a more detailed KB training for the STAs. Here’s how it looks:

Canvasser Updates

I’ve also been working on my Canvasser activity. The most challenging thing right now is figuring out how to code the interactive assets to go smoothly with the activity and what commands to use to accomplish this. It’s very fun (even though sometimes a little confusing). Here’s a screenshot of what I have so far:

KB Studio Background Edits

October 22, 2020 By Abriella Corker

KB Studio Background Edits

I’ve been working with Miguel and Maddy trying to crack the coloring code issues with our digital edits and how they display in the studios. We got edits back on studio 2 and 10 with the day lights so I wrote up photoshop editing adjustments to make for those studios so far. Then I will add the Studio 6 ones. It looks like a lot but the edits are very minimal I just needed to present a lot of backdrop comparisons to put the edits in context. We started presenting this training in the daily meetings as well to get the STAs familiar with the process before they start working on them.

Clio Training Update + Religiology Logo

October 22, 2020 By Athena Zeng

Clio Training Update

I wanted to make a blog post, but I haven’t made one in a pretty long time, so I was going to make a blog post on both Clio and the Religiology Logo, but now I am just going to wait until I meet with Valerie and Maddy tomorrow to talk about the religiology logo.

Clio Training

Regarding this training, I am now wrapping up on the second part. The second part was much more focused on understanding the CSS involved in customizing your specific page. I used the CSS editor to create a picture-background, a picture-header, a Google Font, and a picture card header.  I included some dark blue/green elements because I thought the old color scheme was a little boring.

Picture Background

Made on Photoshop using the green from the photo, filter gallery (which produced an effect that actually looks like a hard court!), and the photos. I think I am going to get rid of the pictures and try something else.

Global Colors

Declaring the colors that are referenced throughout the CSS sheet.

Header

Creating the custom classes for picture card headers, also changing the font family referenced in each card.

Video Table

Looked at the source code to understand how tables were set up, then adjusted the CSS code to enable a table with custom colors and the ability to show hovering. I used this table to explain “Bonus Shots” in tennis that are fun to employ.

KB – Basics of Client Communication

October 20, 2020 By Cristina Villarreal Núñez

KB – Basics of Client Communication

For this project I was tasked to make my own KB help guide on the Basics of Client Communication based on my experience with the GOV Logo and how I managed to communicate with Stuart on that project.

So over the course of a few days I drafted a help guide that explained the three different types of emails you send to a client (initial, specs, and final email), and what must be included within each of those. For instance;

  • I went over what you want to ask the client, and what you should let them know
  • I went over the basics of naming conventions and why it is not only important to know then yourself but to also let the client know their meaning
  • I went over the importance of assuring the client they should feel free to contact you or the department when questions/comments arise (because communication is key in any project)

I even added a bunch of images to serve as examples for each of the emails, the naming conventions section and to exemplify what a pdf project guide should look like. These are some of them:

Here is a link to the KB: http://sites.la.utexas.edu/kb/2020/10/19/basics-of-client-communication/ Feel free to check it out! 🙂

Canvasser progress

October 19, 2020 By Megan Fletcher

Canvasser progress

I’m making good progress in Canvasser! I finished up my PSD file and added the images and objects into the Canvasser site today. Wish me luck!

So today I finished up captioning for Barrish and Pinto’s E316 weekly update, and besides that I finished the PSD cutout training. Also, I continued work on both the AI logo and Canvasser trainings.

The Canvasser training is going pretty well so far. I’m enjoying the interactive aspect of it and the user-friendliness. I had a small hiccup where drag objects wouldn’t trigger the conditional true popup even when in the correct position, but Ruben was kind enough to tell me it was because I had the origin set to upper left instead of center. This meant even when in the correct position, the conditional true popup would only be activated when the upper left corner of the draggable object was in the correct position. Bridget has also been really helpful in troubleshooting.
