Pixel Art Tutorial

This week I’ve made a little bit of progress on my pixel art tutorial. I’m learning that’s it’s actually pretty simple to use grids in Illustrator to “pixelate” an image (or get a pixel-like effect), I’m also trying to include Illustrator tips so that the tutorial is useful outside of

For the tutorial I’m thinking people can pick a famous work of art (something in the public domain) or a photo and transform it into pixel art. I’m experimenting with Van Gogh’s painting The Bedroom to see how this technique can be applied, since there are many methods you could use–there’s no one method.

Today, I spent half of my shift doing captioning for E316 again. However, for the remainder of my shift and the rest of this week, I worked mostly on the AI logo and Canvasser training.

I finalized the design for my logo (see below) and put it in a design menu. For some reason, I chose a Moscow Mule mug as one of my featured logo products, although maybe it’s just a wish for winter to come already.

Additionally, I finished my conditional drag-and-drop Canvasser game, which tests the learner’s knowledge some basic survival-level German words and phrases that they’ve (hopefully) cleaned in my Clio Canvas module. Try it out here! I also was able to add a button on my Clio module which will take the user to the game.

This Week

October 23, 2020 By Megan Fletcher

This week’s progress

This week, I’ve worked a lot on Canvasser, did a couple of photo ids, worked on Sexing History, and the infographic training. So far on Canvasser, I’ve made and uploaded my Photoshop assets, created objects, and assigned interactions. I’m currently working on adding conditional popups for all of my Spanish pronoun matches. It was a bit difficult to visualize a cartoon for “you” and “I” so I quite literally used the English word for the visual for “you.” Here are a few preliminary screenshots!

Basic Training: CLIO Module Training Pt.1

Continued

I finally finished with part 1 of the CLIO Module Training! Since last time I worked on this, I’ve changed and added quite a few things to this module.

For instance, in the image below you will notice that I changed the color of the navar (the top part) from burnt orange to black. I also added a new activity! I called it Quiz 1 because I am planning on eventually adding a second quiz for people to match a movie’s title (in English) to what they think the correct Spanish translation is, so tune in for that later.

I also made quite a few changes within Activity 1 (The Basics). This is what it looks like now:

Finally, this is what Activity 2 (Quiz 1) looks like:

Hope you liked it!

Now it’s time to move on to CLIO Module Training Pt.2

Project Time Estimates Training

October 22, 2020 By Poonum Mehta

This week, I made some final edits to the project time estimate training I’ve been working on. We decided that a vertical flow chart was the easiest to follow:

And I created this little banner to try and fit in with the pencil sketch / brainstorming theme of the flowchart.

Looking forward to doing a test run of this training sometime next week! It’s pretty dense, but I’m hoping the information is clear enough. I’ve framed the practice part of the training to make me (or whichever future STA is in charge of providing feedback for this training) act as the “supervisor” or “client” that the STA is working with, so should be pretty fun to play that role.

Other than that this week has been pretty relaxed; Just worked on some photo IDs and tried to get a bit of stuff done on canvasser, but my computer seems to really hate running that software, so baby steps.

Hebrew site update

I updated some broken links on the Yours Truly site for professor Raizen. (p.s. I love Chris’ robot talk)
