Texas Beyond History: In the Environment

Texas Beyond History: In the Environment

I’ve been working on TBH with Jake for the new Exhibit, Radiocarbon. Most of the work is pretty straight forward, because the site is mainly static, so Jake and I have just been putting the text and images into the HTML.

One interesting thing I’d say is that I figured out how to include mathematical equations in HTML using a JavaScript library called MathJax. All I had to do is to include the script and I can type LaTex (thank you my Algo class for teaching me how to use this tool) in HTML.

Battle Casts (after a long while)

May 14, 2021 By Thuy H Nguyen

Battle Casts (after a long while)

It’s been a while since I worked on Battle Casts (the last time was last semester?). The client reached out recently and so I think the project is being picked up again. There’s not much for me to do since the site shell is ready, and the client can take over the text / image input portion. All I need to do is to create a new template page for the 3D model.

The client said they’ll get back to me with the design for this template on Monday, so I’ll be updating this then.

Finished GOV banners and more

May 12, 2021 By Megan Fletcher

Finished GOV banners and more!

I finished up the government retractable banner project this past week, so be on the lookout for graduation banners in front of Batts Hall soon! I also presented my work on the Texas Politics Project’s social media graphics suite to (all of) LAITS on Monday. I’ll be signing off for the summer here in a few weeks, so dear reader, I will miss you!

Reformatting for Texas Global

May 12, 2021 By Cristina Villarreal Núñez

Reformatting for Texas Global

This project is something that has been going on –on and off– since February of this year. Basically, the premise of the project is reformatting a bunch of their old ppt presentations that they use in their Innovation Readiness course.

Since February, I’ve worked on this project at different stages of the progress, too (accompanied by other STAs, of course). For instance, I worked on gathering a bunch of images from the official Texas Global archives to use in the ppts back in March. I worked on reformatting back then too, when we were working with a different template.

The most recent update I have for this project comes from yesterday’s work. A lot of changes had been made to the template we were using since the last time I’d worked on this project, so with the newest version set in stone, I worked on reformatting two different presentations, that being the Benefits ppt and the Competition ppt.

Poonum is currently overseeing that project among us STAs, but there’s exterior project managers still checking in and making changes to the plans every so often. So the conclusion to this project is still pending…

Semester Reflection

May 10, 2021 By Sheryl Long

Spring 2021 Reflection

Today is my last day of work for the semester! I decided not to work during the summer because I feel like I didn’t get much time to work on myself and personal projects this year, this semester was… a lot haha. BUT I am excited to start all my summer projects and go back to the process of applying to countless internships and not hear back from them! Hopefully I can come back to LAITS with more skills and energy during the fall :))

Some projects I worked on outside of LAITS this semester:

I helped design and modeled an interactive exbibit for the Stark Center, it’s about two underrepresented weightlifters Tommy Kono and Jane Todd. Here’s a video walk-through of our design:

Also me and my friends designed and coded this recycling site for a class this semester, I am pretty proud of it :3
