II. Sociolinguistics homepage

• A. Description: Homepage mockup for the UT organization for Sociolinguistics; client: Dr. Lars Hinrichs

• D. I am still playing around with some concepts, colors, and questions of transparency, but the image I want the imagery to reflect what sociolinguistics is all about–people shaping language, dialects, etc.

project: COLA pages Update

I updated the Degree Plan and Four Year Plan pages on the COLA website through Cascade. I have completed the updates and suggestions to formatting requested. Andre has approved my current work. There will be additional updates once Andre has gathered the rest of the materials for the “Four Year Plan” Page. Should take 3 hours maximum depending on file name and descriptions.

I have updated my wiki with the projects I have been working on since the start of my appointment for 2011-12 including the banner on my wiki page.

project: 960 Tutorial
tech lead: Ming
Ming gave us a quick and informative tutorial on 960 grid functions. There will be a new tutorial coming soon.

project: Updated COLA thumbnails

I updated the mini-banners and course website thumbnails using cascade and LAITS _db. I ran into a bug on _db but it has been resolved.

project: AI Tutorials with Martha-Gail
lead: Suloni
This is a weekly tutorial for Martha-Gail. I gave Martha-Gail a general tutorial on Illustrator including its uses as well as its tools. We worked on the pen tool to trace a logo and I emailed her a list of helpful links. The next tutorial (9/20) will be on blending modes in Photoshop, in which I have also prepared a list of online tutorials.

project: Walk-in Presentation Help with Professor Rumrich

I helped Professor Rumrich create a powerpoint presentation on “Milton’s Satanic Verses” and also ran through the presentation with him in Mezes 1.306. Updates and practice with the media console will be completed 9/16.

I have completed about half of the project and will complete the rest of the banner next week. I’m excited to see everyone’s designs!

I added the new timesheets for 2011 in the “STA server > _2011_summer_timesheets” and archived the old timesheets.

project: Mac Monthly Cleanse

I will explain MAC protocol and STA meeting. At the end if every month, the files in the trash, downloads, and on the desktop folders will be discarded to enhance optimum productivity. All important files should be saved to the STA server at the end of your shift to safely store your work.
Questions: Default dock, Bookmark default across browsers, default browser?
