Today, I got started on part ii of the CLIO training. So far, I’ve only updated the background color of the module and edited the CSS for my color scheme to make it easier on myself. Here are some somewhat boring screenshots of my code: 
Y’all, I gave Google docs a bad rap. It’s not half bad to use for layout design! This week, I’ve reformatted the table of contents, applied some edits to the title page, and made sure the doc is actually useable as a template! I expect to get started on the style guide for this by late next week. Here are some screenshots of my updates:
The Texas Politics Project requested a template for their research papers. I was super excited to get this assignment because, well, I’m a huge Texas politics nerd and I used to intern in the legislature. I actually got the internship through the Texas Politics Project’s website!
I started today on the template in Google docs. It’s a bit pesky. Apparently, the way it looks to me on the doc isn’t the way it actually looks, so I have to constantly export PDFs and delete them to check what I’ve actually done. So far, I’ve done everything except adding a couple of more pull quotes and some minor alignment things.

Abriella made a great training on color correction and as someone who doesn’t know much of anything about color theory or color balance, it was super helpful. Here are some of my edited photos from the training:

This week, I also did some photo IDs and gave feedback on a bunch of InDesign trainings. It’s super helpful to see where people tend to struggle or make design mistakes at the moment because I’m about to start help train layout designers at the Daily Texan (wish me luck).
In other news, Angie tells me Dr. Iverson’s class really appreciated the animation (credit goes to her on the scuba diver, though)!
I use Live Trace a lot at the Daily Texan to vectorized stock icons for infographics, but I rarely use it for photos, so this training was neat to do. I have a Macbook Air, though, so every time I tried to copy the AI vector into Photoshop, my computer got hot and froze up. It seemed to work with just one vector layer instead of multiple, though.
