Happy Valentine’s!!

This week I worked on Figma, the shapes KB, and a bit on Cascade help.

The shapes KB is going to be part of the eventual design elements KB curriculum, and I’m super excited! I’ve gained a new appreciation for shapes and their place in design. Right now I have most of the research done, have written an introduction and objectives to the training, and begun planning some activities. Next week I hope to polish up the actual writing to a more formal and less stream of consciousness-like tone & format, create some lil pngs of each kind of basic shape, and actually design the activities! I think I have a much clearer idea of where this training should go now. Here is the WIP Google doc!

This week I started by wrapping up the AI pixel art training and then started the project time estimates and Figma training. The project time estimates training was a very nontraditional training, and I enjoyed how it compelled me to think more deeply about project time estimates in a more objective kind of way. Beginning the Figma training Wednesday, I spent a lot of time going through tutorials to help me understand the program after my initial stab at a wireframe. Here’s a screenshot of part of what I have so far, but it’s still very much a work in progress.

This week has been pretty calm! I’ve been working on Photo IDs and some miscellaneous trainings mostly. Here are some of my IDs. I’ve had to reach out to another individual to ask for a resubmission unfortunately 🙁

Also I miss traveling so much, and as soon as I heard about this cafe called Sketch that has a pastel pink room filled with David Shrigley prints I just knew I needed that vibe, so I did the AI Pixel Art training with one of my favorite pieces of his! His art is pretty minimalist and approachable, and the piece I chose only used a few colors, so it wasn’t difficult to render it in pixel art form.

A Busy First Week

January 22, 2021 By Ingrid Alberding

Hello! Classes started this week, and it’s been a busy one. Already I am swamped with readings and preparing papers and presentations. I also worked on a variety of different assignments this week as an STA. I continued work on HIS 315K, and today we almost finished our presentations. I also started prepping a presentation for next Monday’s meeting.

I also started with Suloni’s COLA help request, where apparently users cannot view Box files on incognito mode on Chrome, and we need to update the help guides and help bots accordingly. I’ve started a Google doc to add to existing documentation, complete with updated screenshots and descriptions.

Finally, I updated the STA blog to only display current STAs. Have a good weekend!

This week, I really focused on HIS 315K powerpoints, creating drafts and uploading final versions, looking over STAs’ drafts, and doling out the assignments while keeping the spreadsheet updated. Below I have linked an example of one powerpoint I did.

Here’s some examples of my work 🙂
