Goodbye STA Program – Adriana’s Last Day

Goodbye STA Program – Adriana’s Last Day

Today is my last day as a Design STA, and while I am sad about leaving the team where I met a lot of incredible and talented people, I am excited to embark on my next journey!

I still remember when I started and was somewhat nervous about it all as I was still learning. Yet, the nervousness dissipated little by little as I completed the training modules and starting meeting the other STAs who were all more than welcoming. Everyone in the team was always ready to help and assist each other, making it a very comfortable environment to work in. I am grateful I got to meet so many wonderful people while working as a Design STA, and I am excited to see everyone’s journey.

A special thanks to De’sha who is an amazing mentor and did a phenomenal job leading us all. I was able to learn a lot of important lessons and gained valuable insights thanks to De’sha! I appreciate everyone in the team and hope the best for everyone in their career, their journey, and life!

STA Presentation Website

Start: April 8, 2024

To be Completed by: April 17, 2024

Staff Guidance: Thang, De’sha, & Mike

Client: LAITS

Description: With the LAITS Presentation coming up, the LAITS department wanted to update the website where the live feed will be broadcasted. Along with some changes to the information, the client also wanted a new design that aligned with current assets.

I started out by looking at the previous year’s design along with other websites they provided and making low fidelity sketches of the structure.

Then, I created the first iteration with the edits the client wanted to add to the informational paragraphs. I also tried out different title designs and modes of organizing the different pieces of information.

However, after talking with Thang about the level of freedom and creativity I was given, I decided to incorporate elements from other assets for the 2024 STA Presentation. I wanted the design to look cohesive overall so I decided to use the ticket images that are included in the photo underneath the information and goes along with the STA Presentation theme.

Though I liked the idea of using the tickets for the subheadings, I wanted to incorporate them in a different manner. So, I sketched out different ways to incorporate them leading me to the next design with one ticket per subheading and the information stacked instead of it being a two column arrangement. I added a line to create some sort of separation between the agenda and the rest of the information.

I then focused on the title to incorporate the same design style where the title would garner attention but still kept and overall simple design. I tried using two different objects, the tickets and the wristbands, all previously used in another deliverable STA Presentation asset.

I decide to go with the wristbands and with the new iteration I added notes around it.

After a quick feedback session, I made all the information be left aligned and the wristbands a higher vibrancy to maintain a cohesive design.

Once I submitted the first official draft, I made the following edits to create the last iteration:

  • Changed the subheading’s font color to a darker corresponding ticket color
  • Increased the text size for the “AGENDA” ticket
  • Resized all the tickets so they all had the same dimensions and fixed the alignment

GSD Course Promo Flyers – GER 382M

Start: March 26, 2024

To be Completed by: March 28, 2024

Staff Guidance: De’sha

Client: Germanic Studies

Description: The client requested for a batch of course posters with the current templates tailored to the specific course, GER 382M – Textual-Cultural Studies: Politics and Practices. They wanted the flyers to include relevant photos assets along with a brief description of the course’s topics/information.

Since there no assets included in the materials provided, I searched for images in Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay and found three images that were relevant to the course based in its description.

Afterwards I chose one image and finalized the poster and screen ad.

They wanted the flyers to include relevant photos assets along with a brief description of the course’s topics/information.

I first looked at the courses description in the course schedule and used it to find images that were relevant to the class and found three images.

Then, I chose one image that better fit the description out of the three and created the flyer and screen ad.

The client looked for one, concise, and simple flyer that contained an image relevant to the course GER 322E CONV/COMP Society, Digital Cultures and Literatures. They also requested a screen add and provide the template for it.

Along with the information provided for the course, some image assets were provided as well, but I opted to look for new images in Pixabay, Unsplash, and Pexel. I found a couple, but decided on two images.

Using Illustrator I combined both images as if they were blending together and created the flyer and screen ad for GER 322E.

GSD Course Promo Flyers – GER 397P

Start: March 18, 2024

To be Completed by: March 19, 2024

Staff Guidance: De’sha

Client: Germanic Studies

Description: The germanic studies requested for a batch of course posters using the given templated. The client wanted one, concise, and simple flyer that contained an image relevant to the course GER 397P  Replication in Applied Linguistics, some assets were provided. They also requested a screen add and provide the template for it.

Using the given templates, I started creating the first iteration of flyers with the given information and images. However, one problem I ran into was that the information was too long and left little to no space which lead the decrease in the title’s font size.

For the final iteration, I cut out some text and kept the most descriptive part that still gave ample information about the course and created the flyer and screen ad.
