Edits to Design Layouts on Cascade

Edits to Design Layouts on Cascade

Suloni wanted my mock-up to be more of a fake type of page with content rather than a generic one to help contextualize to other Cascade editors how their content can be placed in a way that is more visually captivating. Here is my first final draft of the page and it is awaiting approval. After this, I am going to do another version without the sidebar.

Studio Color Correcting

October 8, 2020 By Abriella Corker

Studio Color Correcting

Studio 6 and 10 have different lighting that is affecting the way the wall monitor backdrops appear. One has warmer lights and the other has natural lights. I had a zoom call with Miguel and Maddy to figure out how we can color adjust backdrops before sending them out to studio tests so that they may be more accurate to the colors we want them to look like. In Studio 6, all the images get a purple tint. We realized that if we make something in green the purple tint will make it look blue like so:

Then we noticed that in Studio 10 the lights give everything higher contrast along with a tad bit of tinting. As you can see below comparing the first image with the last. To fix this we need to export a  second version of a background with adjustments to extra-less contrast.

For my edits, I added a transparent overlay of purple to the original BG and then clicked on the original layer underneath the tinted purple one to adjust the hue until it looked blue again. As I suspected adjusting for a more green made it look blue underneath. This is how the two different backdrops for the Studio 6 and 10 ended up looking like.

Final Round of Drafting

Final Round of Drafting Grid Background Templates

Below are my final drafts of my different grid layouts. Maddy narrowed down the different styles I did to these two and asked that I do a stats and chemistry version of each one. This was to try out different course subjects in relation to the design. Overall, I think doing many reiterations of these in slightly different ways to test out what was working and not working visually helped to make these better than how they started. Formatting the .psd files into a followable template also helped me pair down the elements more and think about creating something that is interesting to look at but also not incredibly overwhelming to try to duplicate.

V-labs

V-Lab .PNGS

The past weeks I have been working on V-labs and I am done with all my stills except one because I am still waiting on a response to a question I had on an edit (the text was illegible in the original). Here they all are on box and hopefully will be on the live site soon. They are blurred for copyright reasons.

Banner Submission for STA Blog

Since the banner has been up for a while now I thought I would just update my blog with the edit I had done for my submission. there was going to be the caricatures of the STAs in each box with their names and then Maddy’s and Valerie’s cats on the bottom.

Chatbot Training Template for BC

Chatbot Training Template for BC

After traininng the STAs on Chatbot, I created a template for practice hands on training for them. Sheryl helped with finings and creating some example help requests. We didn’t have many to actually create real documentation on for the STAs just learning so we are opting for this method. Thuy helped to make the template for the email responses. Bridget came in and helped to train during the zoom meeting during a time out of her regular hours. So just a shout out to my fellow STAs for being so awesome at helping to put this all together for the newer STAs. Once they finish up a few more things I am going to assign these out to them.
