Week Update

Week Update

Week of June 28 – July 2

The OCIL grind continues! Therefore, I don’t have much to show (visually) for this blog update. Poonum and I tested the formatting and functionality of Canvas quizzes, and the team has been making good progress. In fact, we have currently transferred 8 weeks’ worth of content for Intensive Turkish I! Dr. Okur is also about to return from vacation so we should be getting pages approved soon. Outside of Turkish, I worked a bit on both feedback rounds and the animation project.

Week of July 5 – July 9

OCIL update again; all pages of Intensive Turkish I are now on Canvas! Poonum, Miguel, and I met with Dr. Okur on Tuesday to work out all the questions that we had regarding formatting. So I have been going back through pages and quizzes this week to revise them for final approval. I also redid Ingrid’s Shape and Pattern activity III on Shape Hierarchy which I have shown below.

This week is also exciting as it marks my one-year anniversary of working here at LAITS! It doesn’t feel like so much time has passed, but looking back I have come so far. It has been lovely getting to know all my amazing coworkers, and it will be very sad when I graduate from this orange cow school and thus this program.

The State of OCIL

The State of OCIL

Unsurprisingly, my time this week has been largely consumed by OCIL (The Intensive Turkish Project). While Miguel and Poonum have been off work, I have been tracking team progress and documenting notes for the team on the #OCIL Slack channel. There have plenty of questions so far from everyone including myself, but I am glad to report that most have been solved and that we are making great progress!

I also took a look today at how the script is going for the animation project. I think I may be starting drafts soon for the storyboard and character design with De’Sha 🙂 Here is a teaser of the tentative theme and film name!

Weekly Recap

Weekly Recap

Since this is my last workday for this week, I just wanted to give a quick summary of what I’ve been working on. Most of my time has been spent on feedback rounds and drafting the new KB homepage. Have a look! I have also been working on nonvisual groundwork for the upcoming animation project (brainstorming, meeting with the team to establish roles and responsibilities). This week also contained a debrief meeting for OCIL. In the coming weeks, I anticipate a lot more work for these two projects (animation and OCIL), as well as a potential new training (revamping the old “PSD Character Design Illustration” KB training).

A Recap of Last Week and One Big Life Update

A Recap of Last Week and One Big Life Update

I did not get to update my blog before the end of my work week (last Thursday), but this worked out well as I have even more updates and things to share! Maddy sent over some very beautiful photos of the summer-A-frames from campus which I wish to dedicate some blog space to show off. I also revisited the IFML project today, in order to make some transparent GIFs for the client- nothing visually new to share regarding those edits as there were primarily changes to file settings.

As for last week, I was finally able to work through the training-in-development due to Poonum’s hard work in editing the “Photo Sourcing and Color Grading” KB training. The images that I edited are also going to be below. Last Tuesday we also had a fun team meeting where we made excel pixel art together- Suloni recommended that we share the final results so please appreciate this Mona Lisa recreation by Miguel, De’sha, and me. As for the nonvisual work of last week, I attended two meetings for OCIL (a big project in migrating work to canvas that is coming up) and for profile page photos. Additionally, I have started building the new homepage for the KB website and will be working on banners for that soon.

And lastly, it was my birthday yesterday. I’m twenty now and I can already feel the aching in my bones. (JK) Honestly, though it feels like not much has changed, which is probably as it should be, but I am nonetheless excited to be one year wiser. I met up with some old high school friends and had a great time celebrating two decades, and got this cute Korilakkuma bee plush from the Round One claw machines in Grapevine. Cheers to me for two decades 🙂

Design Fundamentals – Feedback Rounds & Summer 2022 A-Frame Design

Design Fundamentals – Feedback Rounds & Summer 2021 A-Frame Design

Hello 🙂 I’m back for the summer! I returned yesterday and am already getting back into the swing of things with a redraw of my winter break “Hookem” Illustration, this time created in Illustrator for Summer 2021 marketing. I’ve also been keeping track of feedback for the new Design Fundamentals training assignments with Maddy, as well as providing feedback on some of the new pieces of training myself.

I look forward to joining my fellow STAs on many upcoming projects in the following weeks. I’ve heard snippets of all the assignments going on right now and WOW; the work accomplished by the Design and Coding team never ceases to impress me. Anyways, here is the illustration that I mentioned earlier. The typography has since been fixed, and it’ll be very neat to see this printed in real life someday.

And a BONUS! Here is a compilation of some work I’ve done in the process of providing feedback on the new developmental training. This is from Sheryl’s “Photography: Photo Sourcing and Color Grading- feedback and test run.” I’ve also started De’sha’s “Branding: Iconography” and Cristina’s “Logo: Logo Design” but have only given written feedback so far; I will be starting their respective activities soon!

COM Icons and IFML Concluded

COM302 Icons and IFML Concluded

Final assets were sent out to the IFML Clients this week 🙂 I look forward to seeing my work implemented on the live site and will be presenting this for the STA presentation next Monday. I also started designing icons for COM302 this week, these are the drafts so far. I also realized that I never posted the banner for the AE training- the GIF of it is too heavy for this blog to display, but below is the still version.
