Course Graphics – Style B

February 11, 2021 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

Course Graphics – Style B

For this training, I was instructed to create a course graphic for the style B. Since this design allows you to add in an image, I decided to use one that is based on the black power movement. When I thought of this course I thought it would look good with the accent of orange. Overall, I believe this is a successful course graphic.

Animated GIF Training

I was finally able to create an animated GIF. Since my favorite animal is a Panda bear, I decided to create a panda that walks by and introduces himself. Meet Winslow the Panda!

Another way to Slideshow?

This might be a better way to embed a slideshow using Google Slides embedded into a WordPress post:

Slideshows in WordPress

This is an attempt to embed a slideshow into a WordPress post. Poonum, Abriella, and I have been working on Lesson 1: Introduction + Design History and we have compiled some assets for some of the most important movements and eras in graphic design history. The following are images from the Art Deco Movement.

Continuing with Studio Course Graphics and Researching KB Topics

Continuing with Studio Course Graphics and Researching KB Topics

Last week, I continued working on the Studio Course Graphics training. I made the digital desk skirt, the vertical monitor, and some mockups using the same technique of noise, using artwork as texture, and layering. I think the digital desk skirt incorporates a lot of relevant class artwork, but it could maybe have some more Bauhaus elements.

We have also started a new initiative where we will be making a more in depth training curriculum for new STAs. This week, I spent a lot of time researching research for effective design systems and exporting file types, which are the two trainings I will be working on. There is a lot of information on the web, so the main challenge I think is  thinking about the best ways to organize the information, how to make the training interactive and helpful for the STA taking it, and how to include the most relevant information.

Research to create meaningful design systems and brands – this is one of the initial planning outlines I worked on for the research for effective design systems training. I spent today gathering information for and working on both trainings.

Outside of work, school is pretty much the same! There is a lot of writing this semester because I am a second-semester senior, and I am in a lot of capstone courses. Naruto is making me so angry it’s almost visceral. It’s also snowing in St. Louis! Have a fun and peaceful week.

This week I started by wrapping up the AI pixel art training and then started the project time estimates and Figma training. The project time estimates training was a very nontraditional training, and I enjoyed how it compelled me to think more deeply about project time estimates in a more objective kind of way. Beginning the Figma training Wednesday, I spent a lot of time going through tutorials to help me understand the program after my initial stab at a wireframe. Here’s a screenshot of part of what I have so far, but it’s still very much a work in progress.
