This week, I did ID edits and continued the studio graphic training, as well as helped edit STA poster photos. 🙂
Here’s a (very) rough draft of where I want to go with the studio graphic canvas banner! I’ll overlay an envelope distortion like this over the photograph I’m using, I’m excited to see the end product.
I’m also excited to start the E316M captioning project, as I’ve been training to start next week 🙂
This week, I added background images, color to my table, and an image carousel! Shout to Thuy for being so helpful!
I spent the last two weeks going over the details of editing the instructions, what staff can and can’t do, need to make a fac and grad editing view, etc, etc. This is my first completed draft of the staff instructions. Suloni is going to look over them and provide me with feedback. For now,it is drafted out in my test site in Cascade.

This was fun! I feel like I’m getting better at adding and pulling back depths of color. I also figured out where the eyedropper tool was on my iPad today..would’ve been super cool of me to have figured out last week but that’s okay.
I made a little more progress on my CLIO site this week! (Currently on part 2 of the training.) I added a background, some quiz elements, plus a carousel feature-thingy that lets you page through images (not sure if I like the header + bg combo though, so I might play with that some more). Haven’t made a ton of progress on my Canvasser game this week, but the basic elements are there. Next week I’m gonna try to add a table to my site.
Other than CLIO, I had a meeting with Abriella and Sheryl to talk about how we will be training other STAs on the Chat Bot, web support requests, and the COLA Help Guides. We made notes for next week, plus we talked about how to organize all of the relevant information on the KB. Abriella will be working on email templates, and I will working on a updating the style guide for new documentation.
I will also be helping to create captions in the coming weeks for (coincidentally) the same American lit class that I designed course graphics for, which honestly sounds like a nice break from design tasks (which can be mentally draining sometimes).
Suloni, Valerie, Maddy, and I have been in communication on ways to improve the photo ID editing process and submission. As COVID continues on, we have many staff, faculty, and grad students taking their own photos at home instead of our studios which complicates the editing process as each photo may contain numerous errors not align with our guidelines. One way to help with this to have an email template requesting new photos and another to make the notification of uploads clearer.
