It’s Been a Week

October 9, 2020 By Megan Fletcher

It’s Been a Week…

Phew! The week caught up with me. This week, I assigned out Poonum and I’s InDesign Part II training, got started with Angie on the new infographic training, uploaded a bunch of photo IDs, gave feedback on the new After Effects training, and (finally) got started on my Canvasser game. I’m making a matching game to learn Spanish personal pronouns with a cute crayon aesthetic.

The infographic training is shaping up to be great! We’re teaching basic graphs and vector graphics in Illustrator, then how to lay out information that’s not necessarily built for a graph, and then how to create a spread of multiple infographics that work together in harmony. Can’t wait to take it!

Project Time Estimate Training

October 8, 2020 By Poonum Mehta

I’ve begun creating a basic training for the KB that explains how to create a project time estimate. In this training, I’ve outlined how to divide a project into specific, chronological tasks, and then attaching time limits for each of these individual tasks. I created a flow chart to demonstrate how this process will go, and the setbacks an artist may have in communicating with their client. Suloni brought up that the “pencil-sketch” look is super relatable when it comes to planning projects, so I’m going to try and keep a similar theme once i turn this into an info-graphic and create a banner for the training.

Weekly Classical Music Recommendation

October 8, 2020 By Thuy H Nguyen

Weekly Classical Music Recommendation

This past week I had a big exam and so it’s been a little stressful. In light of that here’s a more calm piece (I feel like I’ve been sharing technically exploding and intense pieces so this might be refreshing). Also Suloni mentioned that she likes listening to the music I shared in the morning so this might be more suitable :).

This is a Prelude by Rachmaninov and played by Nikolai Lugansky. I particularly like Lugansky in that he has a very calm and humble demeanor when playing and not too dramatic, but of course still very expressive and musical. I also included a version played by Vladimir Ashkenazy, which is slower and more dramatic / romantic (very Ashkenazy, in my opinion), which I also really like as well.

KB HTML / CSS Basic Training

KB HTML / CSS Basic Training

I’ve been working on the Basic Training on basic HTML / CSS and a little bit of JavaScript. Here are some screenshots of my site so far. I’ve been on a Liszt obsession phase (as apparent on my music recommendation posts :p) so this site I made is about him!

Edits to Design Layouts on Cascade

Edits to Design Layouts on Cascade

Suloni wanted my mock-up to be more of a fake type of page with content rather than a generic one to help contextualize to other Cascade editors how their content can be placed in a way that is more visually captivating. Here is my first final draft of the page and it is awaiting approval. After this, I am going to do another version without the sidebar.
