Wrapping up CLIO Training

Here is what my final CLIO site is looking like! This week I changed the aesthetic a little bit and added a few new things: a table, some new headers with images, I embedded a new font (Montserrat), plus I added a button on the last page that takes you to my Canvasser game.

Other than that I’ve started drafting a new basic training that will cover how to make pixel-style art in Illustrator. I don’t really have much to show yet, but next week I’ll try to add some screenshots here.

Fairy Spin

October 16, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

This week I worked on Part 2 of my PSD Character Design Training as well as Canvasser. After making the instructions, I made the images that I wanted to go along with them.

In Part 2, they’ll be using their image from Part 1 of the training, After importing the image into Photoshop, they’ll have to section off the body, and then draw the shapes that make it up when they are facing in different directions.

Next, they’ll add in the details of their character and after approval will work on the final sketch.

My Canvasser game was the other thing I worked on. After inputting everything into Canvasser, there were a couple of problems I ran into so I’m waiting for feedback from Bridget.

Color Correction

Color Correction post on the KB!

From the testing that Maddy, Abriella, and I have been doing for Studios 6 and 10, I’ve been writing up a post for the KB that goes over all the color correction options that we’ve gone through so STA’s can use them later on.

Here’s the link to the draft for what I have so far (I felt like a screenshot would be pointless since it’s very long):

Here are some color correction testing outcomes that we had for Studio 10:

Religiology Logo

October 16, 2020 By De'sha Bass-McClellan

Religiology Logo

I was given the task to create some logo design drafts for a religiology website. I was given a color scheme of natural green tones and was given some sketches by the client for inspiration.

When think of the concept I envisioned the use of trees and geometry. Trees equal growth, prosperity and showcase how we are rooted into our faith. That is how my first design was created.

I was having trouble at first creating my second design, but I decided to continue with the theme of trees. The difference with the second design is that I used a triangle as the shape to surround the tree to represent the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In addition, triangles are the strongest shape.

Based on review, we decided that the vision of the second design is best to present to the client and I had to create some adjustment to the image, such as thickening the second line and changing the colors of the tree and leaves. These are the edits I came up with.

I included different variations of the trees, ranging from different colors and perspectives. Lastly, I did more edits on the images.

Completed Cascade Website

Cascade Training Part 2

I was finally able to complete the cascade training part two. This training was coding heavy, but I enjoyed seeing the final products of this training. Here is the entire opening page for my site. I had to keep true to myself and include the pink and the flowers.

Custom Buttons

For the second part of the training, I was tasked with creating tables, custom buttons, and pull quotes. For the custom buttons, I included sections about the Animation process, the importance of Character design, and the creation of Walt Disney Animation Studios. These are some of the most important topics in relation to Animation.

Pull Quotes

For the pull quotes part of the cascade training, I included information about the history of Animation. I included two types of pulled quotes. Both in different locations and different formats.

Getting started on Sexing History

Getting started on Sexing History

Poonum and I  got a cool InDesign project this week from Maddy! There’s a former Women’s and Gender Studies postdoc who wants us to lay out his high school lesson plans on the history of gender, sexuality, and sexism. It looks super cool so far! I did a draft of lesson 5, which chronicles sexism in the workplace in the 1950s and ’60s. Reminds me of the document-based questions from high school history.
