E316M Course Graphics

This past week I’ve been spending most of the time working on designs for a fall course called “Discovering History and Form in American Literature,” which is being taught by Dr. Pinto and Dr. Barrish in the English department. I actually took this class when I was a freshman (with different professors), so I kind of know what the class is like, even though the material and reading varies depending on who is teaching it. The #1 priority this week has been refining the style of the title cards, which will be displayed before recorded lectures/videos. There are 3 titles cards needed; one for lectures, weekly updates, and response. Here are the newest drafts incorporating feedback from the professors:

I’m also working on 2 stinger designs in the same style (these are for sections within a lecture/video; there’s one called “Lit Lab” and another called “Activity”). Today I met with Tate about possible ways to animate these slides, so I should have some animations mocked up to post here very soon.

Other than that I’ve been helping out with Cascade updates, giving feedback on basic trainings, plus I mocked up another potential retractable banner. More to come next week…

Cascade Site Training Pt. 2

July 22, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

Today I worked on Cascade Site training that involved editing the source code. I really liked it! At first, I was a little confused but as I kept working it became easier. I decided to make the page theme about butterflies. Here are my banner and icon design.

This next image had to do with changing the color of the rounded button to fit the theme.

Next, I had to do different layouts of where information links can be stored. I thought to include some butterfly origami people can do to go with the theme.

Course Graphics, Trainings, etc.

July 22, 2020 By Poonum Mehta

Final menu of course graphics I made for Shabbir’s class. Had to add a shadow onto the stingers because the template blends in with the background. This was my favorite part of this assignment; I like dragging and dropping 🙂

Working on the second part of the Cascade training, I was able to make tables but I can’t seem to figure out where my page went LOL.

Me thinking about learning HTML/CSS: 🙂

Me actually learning HTML/CSS: 🙁

Editing KB

July 22, 2020 By Abriella Corker

Not very exciting and a small update but I was always having trouble finding the one page with all the COLA department logos so I added it under the UT Branding section that Bridget made in the KB.

Intro to British Literature Course Assets

The following are all the course assets that I made for the British Literature class. Maddy first had me work on the animation parts to determine the rest of the course look. Tate did an amazing job animating it all it looked even better than I had originally thought! The first video is of my quick rough draft as well as an image of what all the images should look like together. Then I attached the final animation we will be using. For some reason I can’t center justify the first video so ignore that but take a look.

Then I made the parts for Canvas which included the homepage, dashboard, and buttons. I used images from the animation for the course. I decided to go with the royal blue color to take a break from all the red of the curtains.

Then I had to make the studio assets which included the two wall monitors and a desk skirt. There was also a PowerPoint and ipad overlay.

Here is what everything looks like:

Texas Beyond History Gallery Update

July 21, 2020 By Thuy H Nguyen

Texas Beyond History Gallery Update

I’ve been working on the Texas Beyond History Gallery page. Overall, it’s not too bad because the site is pretty static and also I don’t have to mess with responsiveness. Here are some screenshots of my progress:

Individual Gallery Image Page:

Pretty much the only challenge left for me right now is to make the figcaption of the icons on the main Gallery page appears at the very bottom of the grid instead of directly underneath the images. I’ve been fiddling with it but nothing seems to work quite well yet. More updates coming!
