STA Blog

LAITS Student Technology Assistants collaborate with the College of Liberal Arts faculty and administration by re-imagining their instructional and promotional projects with a creative use of video, audio, web and graphic design. STAs learn technical skills on the job with LAITS development studio staff. They build presentations, produce audio/visual works, scan text documents & perform image correction. STAs are instrumental in helping COLA faculty realize their vision for instructional technology projects used to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

I worked on a few coloring assignments this week and learned from Valerie a lot as to how to use Photoshop:

I’ve also done ~tons~ of photo ID’s that I haven’t been able to work on because of the RUS406 assignments!

I’ve also (I believe) finished all the animations that Lauren assigned to me:

COLA IDs

July 13, 2017 By Jaclyn Alford

Today I was able to complete COLA IDs of a faculty member and a grad student. Each ID required 80×90 and 200×300 sized photographs. I included screen grabs of Aaron O’connell’s ID for example.

Below are more examples of finished IDs.

LRC Trifold Final

July 13, 2017 By Jaclyn Alford

After a few rounds of edits–and a bit of slimming-down on text–the final renditions of the Linguistics Research Center trifold flyer are shown below. Compared to prior versions, the final has less text, consistent formatting throughout, more graphic elements like the “Current lesson series” section, and features the new LRC logo.

“Suturing” Book Covers

July 5, 2017 By Chloe Kim

Today, I helped to combine old, damaged book covers for Professor Barchas using Photoshop. I merged the left and right images given to me for the “Penguin Jacket,” and had to just place left and right images for the “Acorn Jacket,” for there were no overlapping for the book. Without altering the images themselves, I saved the combined book covers and saved them as both .tif and .pdf files.

“Penguin Jacket”

“Acorn Jacket”

I also have been working on PowerPoint reformatting and multiple animations, both for RUS 406.
