STA Blog

LAITS Student Technology Assistants collaborate with the College of Liberal Arts faculty and administration by re-imagining their instructional and promotional projects with a creative use of video, audio, web and graphic design. STAs learn technical skills on the job with LAITS development studio staff. They build presentations, produce audio/visual works, scan text documents & perform image correction. STAs are instrumental in helping COLA faculty realize their vision for instructional technology projects used to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

Today I worked from home and completed #18 “Digital Media” for the PSY333D class. As I get used to the process it’s easier and faster!

Here is one of the finished silhouette designs I made for the PSY 304 class. It was a lot harder to make something that looked nice than I thought it would be, but I do like how this one turned out!

WFH Day 1- Worked on PSY333D “Sleep” powerpoint. I had many many issues trying to figure out the new version of the program and getting it to work, but eventually I could start working with it. There are still a bunch of formatting issues to fix!

Here’s what I’ve been working on the past few days/week before the break! I’m reformatting powerpoints for the PSY 333D class. I have an example of the new slides in the top image and a then/now comparison in the bottom image. I have been changing backgrounds, aspect ratios, correcting image and font sizes, and adding a splash of purple here and there. There’s 19 total, I’m on my 4th one. Got a long way to go……

eForensics Rescaling Bones

November 28, 2016 By Aidan Kessler

As the semester draws begins to wrap up and final project deadlines stack up on the horizon, here at LAITS I’ve been working on re-scaling bones for the eForensics project. The plan for the way bones are presented to site users changed at some point, and now many of the low-poly bones models need to be resized so that they are all the appropriately sized relative to one another. To do this, we’re using the original high-poly models (correctly sized relative to one another but too big) scaled by a factor of 0.1025. Then we take the final, low-poly model and match the size to the re-scaled high-poly model.

To show this in action, here’s a .gif of the re-scaling process:
