KB CLIO Module Training Updates

I haven’t been updated my blog at all this week, but that’s because I got super excited and into this project of editing the instructions for CLIO modules. I’ve made a lot of progress throughout this week, and the two-part training is coming together. I’m very excited for the STAs to try out this training and give me some feedback for revision!

Please excuse the fact that the navbar banner is Liszt’s Consolation No. 4 despite me rambling about Rachmaninoff T.T, anyways you can listen to the piece here ;).

CLIO KB Edits

I started brainstorming the ideas on editing the CLIO KB. The instructions on the site were a bit old and scattered, so I wanted to combine them and also add some additional CSS stylings. I’ll be continuing on this soon.

Texas Beyond History Updates

I fixed some small things with TBH. Just a quick fix on the navbar of the individual gallery page and also some padding for the horizontal line at the bottom of the page.

Texas Beyond History Gallery Update

I’ve been working on the Texas Beyond History Gallery page. Overall, it’s not too bad because the site is pretty static and also I don’t have to mess with responsiveness. Here are some screenshots of my progress:

Individual Gallery Image Page:

Pretty much the only challenge left for me right now is to make the figcaption of the icons on the main Gallery page appears at the very bottom of the grid instead of directly underneath the images. I’ve been fiddling with it but nothing seems to work quite well yet. More updates coming!

Troubleshooting Cascade Video Embed

During the new STAs training for Cascade, we’ve identified an issue with the JW player not being able to play the embed YouTube video. I’ve identified a workaround by embedding and resizing the YouTube video with an iframe tag. I’ve also updated the Cascade instructions.

A very very special note: I had to give Schumann’s Ghost Variations a shout-out in these instructions LOL. It’s been stuck in my head for the past week. You can listen to it here. And read the very moving story behind this piece in the description section as well if you’d like!

I’ve asked Tim, our director, about this issue to see if he has a better solution regarding this. He said this the workaround I’ve identified is what he would recommend, and he said that in the future they will probably replace it with a JavaScript video library.

Basic Training: Make a Spread in InDesign

While waiting for some updates / guidance on other projects, I’ve been working on this basic training in InDesign. This is a fun training in my opinion, especially because I don’t know anything about InDesign. Anyways here are my drafts.
