anotha post

October 3, 2018 By Chloe Kim

Another week has passed, and I have done a lot of miscellaneous things… aka photo ID’s, meeting with Stacy for a new project (AIH), renaming photo ID submissions, and going in for a green screen photo shoot.

I just had 1 photo ID to do this week (so far):

One of the clients actually submitted the photos through her own BOX folder… So I had to convert the file names to our COLA naming convention and put them in our BOX folder.

For the AIH project, I’m working with Stacy to convert an old website into a newer, cleaner version:

And last but not LEAST, of course I worked on another U9_2 illustration. It is still in the works, but I’m hoping to finish it by the end of this week:

scene description: Oleg counting Russian money he finds in a box on a desk.

I think for the adjustment, I would have to zoom in a lot more to show the Russian money that Oleg is looking at. Waiting for Dr. Rice’s feedback!

Ooof, actually I lied about last but not least part (; Suloni asked me to go crazy on the STA patch design, soooooo here it is – a wild adjustment to my previous rainbow road design:

Update on this week

September 25, 2018 By Chloe Kim

I have not done much since the last STA meeting! The biggest things I’ve finished are the Persian website & an illustration for RUS 412K.

I was able to recall everything and finish the website (without Nick’s help): https://www.laits.utexas.edu/persian_teaching_resources/vol2_unit4.php

For U12_5, I had to edit a previous illustration by adding safety gears to the characters:

for the first fall 2018 STA meeting!

September 19, 2018 By Chloe Kim

In the past week, I have worked on varous projects, one of which includes the good ol’ photo ID’s for faculty/grad students/ staffs. This week, I worked on editing 10 photo’s, and I am waiting for Emily’s approval for my edits:

I also had lots of fun making the STA banner (although I’m still waiting on few people to submit their avatars). I tried to make it look like we ~like~ each other and enjoy spending time together…which is ironic, because most of us are usually very quiet when we work on our own projects in the office! I thought a backyard party with warm lights would lighten up the mood! I also helped Nick with his caricature – we had some struggles, but overall, we learned a great lot about transforming a photograph into a “cartoon.”

I was also asked my Suloni to make a guideline for editing 200×300 photo id’s. We are hoping that the STA’s who work on the photo ID’s in the future will be able to apply these new “rules”!

another blog update

September 13, 2018 By Chloe Kim

This week, I was given a new project from Suloni & Stacy to work on a website for a Persian class. At first, I thought it was just uploaded new audio/ video files, but it ended up requiring me to do some coding!!!!!!! It’s been a while since I’ve worked with html, so I had to ask Nick a lot of questions. I was a noob!! But it was really fun and satisfying to see the new changes I made.

<after ~coding~ and making new changes>

Coding was a little scary at first, and I had to get the exact names of things in there, so I made a lot of mistakes and failures. But in the end, everything worked out! It was largely thanks to Nick for helping out! This is the link to the Persian website: https://www.laits.utexas.edu/persian_teaching_resources/vol2_unit4.php

I also finished my ~new~ STA caricature:

More Updates!!!

I finished another RUS412 watercolor background for Tate this week:

[initial sketch]

After I started coloring the background, I started working on the tree. Originally, the branch that extends further was too long, so I had to shorten it. But overall, I think Tate was satisfied with the finished product!

I also worked briefly on the STA patch designs. I didn’t really put much time/effort into them, but they were just basic ideas I played around with:

RUS412 Progress

August 30, 2018 By Chloe Kim

Few weeks later, I am finally done with the seashore watercolor background!! I colored in the birch trees and fixed some of the other colors (for the water) by using color overlay:

I also fixed the homepage banner for RUS412 – I darkened the background so that you can really see the christmas lights hanging, as well as an intensified focus on the characters:

I also got another watercolor background assignment from Tate. This time, I had to re-do the airport scene. It was really fun, and I unexpectedly finished it a little too ~early~ because I was being ~too efficient~ haha!!… I am now waiting for another assignment from either Kathy/ Tate.
