Photo IDs

Photo IDs

This week we didn’t have to work on Monday because of Labour Day. Woohoo!

So, I started my work on Tuesday with some photo ID’s. This is what they look like published: two of them are staff so they only get the 80×90 pictures, but the other two are grad students, so in addition to the 80x90s they also get 200×300 profile pictures.

STA Blog Self Portrait

STA Blog Self Portrait

For this activity I was tasked with creating a head to toe avatar of myself using whatever design tools I want, so I decided to use Adobe Illustrator. My understanding is that this image will be used to represent me in the We Are STAs banner for Fall 2020 | Spring 2021, along with the avatars of all of my current STA peers. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product soon. For now, I only know what my personal avatar looks like, which is as follows:

Basic Training: Cascade Site Pt. 2

Basic Training: Cascade Site Pt. 2

For Part Two of the Cascade training I basically worked on two new pages. Both of these pages were exercises designed for me to learn the basics of coding that every STA must know when working with Cascade.

The “Table Edits Page” was an exercise that taught me the proper coding for making three different types of tables. https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/sta-12/penguins.php

      1. The first table was about learning how to insert the table, how to add text and how to link the text to external links.
      2. The second table was about learning how to add text and embedded videos to a table.
      3. The third table was about learning how to add images and how to link those images to different external links.

The “My Accordion” page was an exercise that taught me the proper coding for drop-down text. This is useful for FAQ style pages, which is actually what I was tasked to do. https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/sta-12/my-accordion.php

Troubleshooting Tip:

You may run into an issue where you receive an error code after pasting code into the Cascade editor. If this happens, just close out the editor and log out of Cascade before trying again.

Basic Training: Cascade Site Pt. 1 [Updated]

Basic Training: Cascade Site Pt. 1 [Updated]

After continuing with Part One of the Cascade basic training, my site has been through quite some changes, compared to the picture in the previous post. For instance, I designed a new banner in order to declare the theme of my site. For said theme I settled on penguins.

Apart from changing my banner, I added a plethora of other things.

I added events and news:

I added a welcoming message and right-side bar:

And finally I added a bunch of things on the left-side tabs like staff and contact information.

This is all visible on my site: https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/sta-12/

Basic Training: Cascade Site Pt. 1

I was tasked to get familiar with Cascade by making my own test site. This is what it looks like so far. It’s only the first part of what I will accomplished there. https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/sta-12/

Basic Training: Canvas Callout Buttons

Basic Training: Canvas Callout Buttons

For this assignment I had to learn how to edit buttons like STA’s do, to be used in Canvas. The following buttons are my evidence for that. I used the preset template, but changed the colors and the text to get familiar with how they work. The colors were chosen from the UT authorized primary and secondary color palettes.
