Weekly Classical Music Recommendation

Weekly Classical Music Recommendation

Hello I bet you can’t wait to see this (jk!). I’ve still in my Liszt phase this week so here’s another Opera Paraphrase by Liszt, Réminiscenses de Don Juan, an opera paraphrase of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

You may even notice the same theme from the Seduction Duet (starting 4:25) in Chopin’s La ci darem la mano (I’ve shared this on my blog before but here it is again for reference):

Have a great weekend everyone!

CLIO Polls Experimentation

CLIO Polls Experimentation

I’ve been working on some experimentation of embedding some polling tools into CLIO. This is a request made by Dr. Hunt for the Diversity and Inclusion course. I’ve figured out that CLIO’s instant grading feature allows the students to see the results immediately, however it doesn’t allow them to see the statistics of other students’ answers as requested. So I’ve looked into embedding a Google Form into CLIO and it sort of works. The main drawback is that the student needs to go to the Google Form site (through a button click) to view the statistics and also correct answer.

Maddy gave me some information on Qualtrics so I’ll be trying that option out next week to see how it goes as well.

Texas Beyond History Update

Texas Beyond History Updates

I’ve been resuming on TBH this week. The client wanted to make the images on the individual image pages enlarged, with a max-width of 2000 px. Stacy had an idea of leaving the image max 760 px instead, but adding a plus / minus icon to a corner of the image and then when clicked on the image, the image enlarge to it’s full width.

I had some trouble with centering the image when enlarged but Jake helped me figured it out. There are still some small issues with smaller images such as this one right here, but I’m consulting with Stacy and will most likely make more changes next week to fix it.

Weekly Classical Music Recommendation

Weekly Classical Music Recommendation

I’ve been on and off sick for the last 2 weeks so there hasn’t been any classical music recommendation 🙁 or regular blog posts. I got a bacterial skin infection and then got a bad allergic reaction to the prescribed antibiotics, so I had to go to urgent care twice. It was unfortunate because it was right during the first week of school. But everything got sorted out now so I’m back yayy!

I’ve been wanting to recommend this piece so much but I didn’t have the time to until now. Here’s Liszt’s Reminiscenses de Norma, the paraphrase of the opera Norma by Bellini. The piece is an absolute fiery, grand masterpiece (after listening to it I was like La Campanella is overrated this is the best Liszt piece ever, but my phase might change LOL). The piece is packed with different emotions, yet overflowed with beautiful melodies (and of course, extremely difficult technical passages T.T). Please please please give it a try if you have time :).

Diversity and Inclusion Training CLIO Meeting

Today I had a meeting with Dr. Hunt and Dr. Lundy on building a CLIO site for the Diversity and Inclusion Training. Here’s a screenshot of the meeting notes I took.

I’m super excited to move forward with this project since I get to play around with CLIO again! I’ll be waiting for updates from Dr. Hunt and Dr. Lundy once they’ve had the basic course materials in!

KB Training Photoshop Color Correction

I’ve been working on the Photoshop Color Correction that Abriella made and it’s been super fun and helpful. I’ve used some of these color correction techniques before but there were many that I didn’t know of, so it was really fun to get to play around with them and see what they can do. Here are just some of them.
