With many new Labs sites coming up and lots of people who are gonna be jumping on them that might not be familiar with WordPress, I’ve gone ahead and created some short online tutorials that’ll show anyone new to WordPress, the very basics of working with it. These aren’t any extensive PHP or how to CSS videos, more or less, how to create and work with content in Pages and Widget areas.

Project: Creating How To videos for people using WordPress

Completion Status: 50% Done

Me and Julie are going to be creating How To videos for any content creators, or admins, who will be making changes and updating their Labs or Conferences WordPress sites.

The biggest challenge is trying to record this all in a fairly noisy area. Otherwise they’re pretty simple to create.

Project: Created a plugin for all UT WordPress sites!

Back in the Fall semester, me and Stacy realized the problem with having a parent theme to host a lot of the Labs and Conferences sites, was that any changes made design wise to the parent theme, would effect all the sites across the board. Since that was a problem we wanted to avoid, with Stacy’s guidance I created a CSS plugin that would allow anyone on any child site (Labs or Conference) to change the CSS for that site only, without making changes to any other sites using the same theme.

At the moment, I’m going to work over the summer to get it listed the WP Plugins site, however, school and LAITS come first.

Project: Age of Globalization/Ideas of the 20th Century
