3/31-4/8

Unfortunately the computer in the corner crashed when I stepped out for a few minutes this weekend. I hadn’t saved 🙁 I would have been further on the painting.

Berlin Icons: This was the first project that I used Illustrator. Because I did not know Illustrator well, I approached the images timidly creating icons that were not very powerful. With the guidance of Suloni, I was able to redo the icons and make them bolder and easier to read. The Berlin Icons were certainly a helpful stepping stone for the MedTerms project.

ASL Online: For this project, I learned to use Fluid Mask. This program helped me to quickly and easily remove the backgrounds of the pictures of hands.

Medical Terminology: I learned a lot about illustrator while being immersed in the drawings of the three MedTerms images. I received input from Michael and Marissa who helped direct me towards efficiently conquering the complicated parts of the images when I felt overwhelmed. I definitely think this project has increased my skill and efficiency in Illustrator.

COLA Banners: For the CAAS site, I noticed that a big part of the program is Yoruba Studies. I looked for images representing the Yoruba culture and found a person dancing wearing a mask. I drew the mask and realized that my image did not reflect any aspects of African American culture so I added a jazz musician to balance the content of the image.
