STA Blog

LAITS Student Technology Assistants collaborate with the College of Liberal Arts faculty and administration by re-imagining their instructional and promotional projects with a creative use of video, audio, web and graphic design. STAs learn technical skills on the job with LAITS development studio staff. They build presentations, produce audio/visual works, scan text documents & perform image correction. STAs are instrumental in helping COLA faculty realize their vision for instructional technology projects used to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

Here are some screenshots from some animations I’ve done recently. The first involves two girls walking up to a guy, and the second involves a girl setting a phone down on a table with an arrow tracking the motion. For these I made basic walk cycles and tried to use symbols and tweens when possible for maximum efficiency. I did keyframe a few things I wanted to make sure worked the way I needed them to.

From the upcoming Introduction to Theater and Dance course, these iconic buildings are used as map markers during the short “history” segments of each class to illustrate important cities and regions. Also for the Intro to Theater and Dance (history segments) these are some of the modes of transport that illustrate the travel of theater between parts of the world. Each mode of transport (mostly ships) is illustrated in a style that matches prevailing visual styles in the region at the time.
