GSD 360 Poster and Slide

This week I mainly focused on this GSD 360 project, where I designed an 8.5×11 poster and an intro slide for the GSD 360: Learning from the Germans? Transatlantic Memory Cultures class.

Tockify Calendar Mockup

Last week I worked more on the Tockify calendar mockup, the goal being to make a calendar that displays academic and religious holidays to spread awareness of holidays that faculty, students, or staff may be celebrating. It didn’t change too much visually since last week, but I played around more with calendar events and design this week.

UTFC French Textbook

I just barely started looking at the UTFC French Textbook Project, working on the “More Colors and Shopping List” vocab slides. I didn’t get super far to warrant a picture, but I’ll be working on it more this week!

Tockify Calendar Mockup

Last week I worked more on the Tockify calendar mockup, the goal being to make a calendar that displays academic and religious holidays to spread awareness of holidays that faculty, students, or staff may be celebrating. Here is the calendar embedded again:

STA Trainings – History of Design

I made a first draft of the history of design training, where I chose the Swiss style. I did this in Photoshop, and for the colors I used the “blending options” popup and edited the RGB settings. The full tutorial can be found here. 

 

….and then I also tried my hand at the STA blog banner, but I’m assuming we’re not meant to show progress on that to keep anonymity.

Remote Studio Poster/Logo

I’ve been working a lot on new drafts of the Remote Studios poster, here are some of my process shots:

On this first one, my goal was to make the STAs look like they’re coming out of a little video play button, but it was hard to tell that so I changed direction…

This one was a test of a new direction…

And then De’sha and I put our brains together and this is the newest version that we’ve settled on:

Started working on the faculty diversity calendar project, the goal being to have a more inclusive calendar for faculty and students to reference and be more aware of other cultural practices from their peers as well as how those things coincide with the academic schedule. This is a test mockup from Tockify that I’ve been working on. Please go to the monthly view and look at the July and December months (starting 2022) for the most cohesive experience.

Positives: Tockify does have a lot of customization aspects. Is fairly straightforward once you get the hang of it. The tags feature works really well and makes it easy to view academic or religious-specific calendars.

Negatives: I strongly dislike the pinboard and agenda views as they force repeating events through multiple years to show up on one calendar, but the monthly view is fairly nice. Is confusing at first, and there’s so many options it’s a little overwhelming.

Questions I’m still testing: Can the calendar ownership be transferred to another user?

Remote Studios Logo / Poster

I’ve been going through a lot of drafts for this project, here are a few unfinished mockups that I’m moving away from directionally. I got approval from De’Sha and Leilani to pursue the first design’s shapes around the people, so I’ll be playing more with that soon.

As another process shot, I also had a color palette change to orange. Looking at the logo, I went ahead and updated the hair style and things to not literally be a copy-paste of my own STA portrait for this version:

Then, moving away from that, I started exploring a much more simplified version:

And that’s where I’m at now!

Christmas at Winedale Poster

This poster is for the Christmas at Winedale event, which is (as the poster implies) an experiential Christmas event where you get to be more immersed in a 19th century atmosphere on the Winedale historical site. This version is the 11×17 inch one, and I also created a very similar 5×7 inch version.

Last week I mainly worked on the Remote Studios poster/logo; I updated formatting to match the other STA poster designs.

STA Portraits

Last week I also helped resize some of the STA portraits in little shield shapes for the main STA poster. Shown below is the Remote Studios team, but I also did part of the Audio team. (note: it seems that these images have harsh lines at the bottom, I think that’s just how they uploaded to WordPress since the original exports were not like that)

 

Redefining Health Care Summit Logo Updates

Continuing the project from last week, I converted to the print file types and also made the black and white versions (print and digital) of the stacked and horizontal logos. Here’s the black versions, the white is a very similar.

Remote Studios Poster/Logo

I went and shadowed one of the Remote Studios STAs, Avery, last week and that was really insightful! Since then I’ve been working on the poster/logo for Remote Studios. The logo here is more of a mock up than anything, and this hasn’t really been through a feedback round yet, by the way! The logo I was planning on making a bit more detailed for each camera image. Colors aren’t quite right yet.

In my extra time I’ve been working on changing the text on this logo from “Barcelona 2022” to “Barcelona 2023” and exporting different file types of those — next I’ll be exporting both of these in black and white as well!
