A new task I have been assigned is the Epic Similes project. For this, a spreadsheet of information concerning homeric similes is organized with a variety of attributes. A search interface and website has been established for this information, but it needs more structure and UI/UX. So far, I am working to understand the “handlebars” JavaScript code that creates table information at runtime. However, I have been able to make some small modifications to the appearance such as highlighting and sizing to some UI elements.

A litte more work has been done, and along with it I’ve gained more understanding of the handlerbars api. Also, I had a meeting with Dr. Beck, and now that there is a clear plan on what is requested going forward, I can use the knowledge of this code base I have gained to begin to implement her requests. Looks like Maddy will help with the visual theme of the website.
