Here are some updates of what I have so far for the Course Design Collection
I will be finishing this up soon :). I might need to alter the colors of the artwork after streaming tests, just because the monitors might change the appearances of the chosen color palette. Other than that, I can’t wait to see how this turn out and for the course to go live in the Spring!
Project: New Writers Project Cascade Site Setup and Help Requests
Client: Emma Train, the New Writers Project
Completion status: to be completed before Thanksgiving
Description / plans: setup the Cascade site shell and providing help based on client requests
Last week I’ve been providing help for the New Writers Project with setting up their Cascade Site. They wanted to migrate their site from WordPress and do some reorganization. This is the first time I’ve provided help on Cascade so it took me a while to figure out how to do certain things (thanks to Tim and Estella). The client was also not familiar with Cascade so they accidentally delete some folders, causing some broken links. I’ve managed to fix them, but Suloni has directed me to write up a KB on how to better instruct the client on Cascade so that not as much work is needed to restore the links.

There are a few more things I need to do, including uploading staff’s profile images, addressing the duplicated Staff’s landing page, and resizing the banner image to the standard size.
I got started on creating the materials for the online course PSY 352, going live in the Spring. Below are what I had so far.

Project: PSY 352: Abnormal Psychology Online Course Materials
Client: Dr. Christopher Beevers, COLA Department of Psychology
Completion status: started October 29th, 2019

Description / plans: create materials for the PSY 352 online course (going live in Spring 2020). Project include reformatting PPT slides, designing studio backdrop, desk skirt, intro video, etc.
Yesterday I started on the first draft of the PPT template for the course. Once this is approved and modified as needed, I will assign these out to the STAs team members to help me reformat all of Dr. Beevers’ slides. I myself am also working on a few slides set, just so that I know what issues can be encountered on the way.
As a side note, I’m a PPT nerd, so I’m super excited to work on this project 😉
I also created a spreadsheet for housekeeping purposes.
And finally, some organization stuff to get everyone ready to create the PPTs.
Project: VLab PNG / PSD
Client: Physical Anthropology online course
Completion status: started October 3rd, 2019

Project: French and Latin Web Banners

Description / plans: creating website banners for the online courses for French and Latin

Using these courses’ previous post cards, I’ve created the web banners for their websites.
Suloni, Valerie and I discussed extensively in choosing the images for the French banner. We wanted something that ‘speaks French’ (quoting Suloni), but it’s quite difficult to find a landscape orientation picture of the Eiffel tower. In the end we settled with the above.
For the Latin banner specifically, I really love all the characters illustrated by a past STA, Aidan Kessler (who is now a PM). All of the assets used in the Latin banner, which are not only beautiful but also very well layered (making it easy to parse them out and reuse them), are his.
