Notes: So far, I’m still focusing on compiling multiple layouts for the STA poster. I still haven’t decided on a backdrop yet but I’m excited to see what else I will come up with as I continue working on this project The theme is still of a sporty/scrapbook look but focused on the idea of teams and establishment. KB Site Editing 

Project: LAITS Knowledge Base Site Edits
Notes: I’m pretty much done updating a tutorial I’ve been working on here and there for the past few weeks. I just have one last photo to insert, but other than that I’m pretty much done with this site.

Principles of Design | Shape and Pattern

Hello! This week has been a bit slow but I’m still working on some stuff!

 

I’m almost done but here’s some more progress on the “Principles of Design: Shapes and Pattern” LAITS Knowledge Base tutorial. It’s an interesting challenge to find and make graphics for a tutorial with missing images. Here’s a before of what the editing side of the website looks like vs the actual preview!

 

STA Poster 

Project: Spring 2023 STA Presentation Poster

Notes: For this project, I was assigned to design the LAITS Spring Presentation poster for the end of the semester. It’s such a great opportunity to be able to be a part of making something for all of the LAITS STAs to view and visualize for the big event that’s to come! The theme is sort of a sporty/scrapbook look so here’s some of the progress I’ve made so far:

I just about finished my first week of the new spring semester! Wow, time flies!

As this week was primarily focused on adjusting and adapting to new changes, I also gained some new responsibilities. From now on I will be directing and helping to organize my fellow peers in the UT French Course project. Overall, I’m excited about this opportunity and my duties as an STA.

Apart from that, all I’ve been working on for this week is editing a Knowledge Base Site tutorial with outdated images. It’s quite fun considering it’s a training module I haven’t done yet but I get to find and create images based on patterns and shapes. Like here:

UTFC Greenscreen: 8.2B Countryside & Farming

Project: UTFC Greenscreen
Due On: December 2nd
Notes: For this project, I was assigned to find pictures with elements of the countryside and farming from Saint-Denis or Reunion Island in France.

This PowerPoint was a bit tricky considering that there are not too many images of farming in Saint-Denis. I had to do a bit of research and reverse image searching to make sure the images provided were legitimate.

 

Color Theory Training

Project: Basic Training: Color Theory
Notes: For this training, the main goal to get out of this lesson is to get a full understanding of how color works and interacts for the purpose of improving designs. Although the activity asks me to make my own color scheme and color wheel, I wanted to have fun with this assignment and make it a bit more challenging.

Beyond Sweatt v Painter Presentation

Project: Beyond Sweatt v Painter Presentation
Due On: November 15th
Notes: This assignment consisted of organizing historical documents, letters, and almost all black-and-white photos of a cast of different characters in a story Oliva Mena (a Research Design Associate for the Contextualization and Commemoration Initiative) is telling.

The majority of this project consisted of making a friendly and appealing presentation to encourage viewer involvement, which turns to promote learning and comprehension. For example, specific document excerpts were highlighted or placed inside a text box to emphasize Olivia’s point and readability for users. Overall, this presentation was a great learning experience and something I’m grateful to be a part of. Lots of important and cool history to be uncovered throughout this PowerPoint!

Project: Tech STA Poster Design

Notes: For this project, I was assigned to redesign the LAITS STA poster for other STA groups such as Classroom Support, Computer Support, Tech Integration, Systems Support, and COERLL. Thanks to Adrian for helping me edit the portraits for the shield shapes!

Notes: For this project, I was assigned to help refresh a design for my client, Winedale. Winedale is a historic site run by UT’s Briscoe Center: https://briscoecenter.org/winedale/

Notes: For this project, I was assigned to design a compass to cover the LAITS crew and their tripod in the 360 videos they recorded in France.
