After finally getting the mock up looking good, it was time to actually upload everything and code it all in Cascade.

To get a more thorough knowledge of Cascade, I was even allowed to create a whole new page that incorporates all the design elements of the home page, with some original content. Being that I’m a big fan of terrible jokes it seemed perfect to make a bad Geology jokes and fun facts page. The original banner for the site was change from this:

This past month was dedicated to training of course, and a huge part of that was creating a site in Cascade. Julie, who was awesomely helpful and knowledgable, trained me. First I created the banner and page mock up in Photoshop:

Afterwards with some guidance from Julie, I was able to adjust the color palette to something more pleasing:

Personal wiki page banner created in Photoshop using my passport photo.

(It sort of reminds of an Odd Future album cover.)

For my first assignment I got to create an 8-bit animated gif that is personal or resembles me in some metaphorical way.

So naturally, I created a hot dog listening to his Sony Walkman at the park. I’ve been vegetarian/vegan for a long time and thought there must be some hot dogs out there happy to not be eaten, I’m also a huge music nerd and actually still buy CDs, records, and casettes.

This is my first semester at UT, and my first semester as an STA. Keep coming back to this blog regularly for updates.
