This week I designed the banner for 15 minutes of History. The Christopher Rose is highly interested in Harry Ransom Center’s black and white website header, so but want the banner to have lighter images than the ones on Harry Ransom Center’s website. I lowered the contrast of the images by applying a gray overlay, and made the background/borders a gradient so it doesn’t look as harsh. I made a black and white version but it doesn’t look as interesting, so I made two colored versions as well with UT secondary colors as squares and rectangles.

I finally started on Vlab after all the other projects I’ve been working on. Time goes by so fast when I’m working on it because I don’t really think about what I’m doing….

Illustrations are always super fun for me! Its super relaxing working with flat colors.

 

 

I used warm brown colors because a lot of the Russian classrooms incorporate wood cabinets and tables with lots of green plants! All of the textures are overlays of real photos of wood. There are multiple students present in the scene, so I tried to keep the focus on Polina by having classmates crowding around her and looking in her direction (so popular.).
