Studio Course Trainings and finishing Canvasser

November 2, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

Worked on Studio Course Trainings last week along with putting the final touches on my Canvasser.

Here are some images of the 2 designs I was thinking of for my Studio Course Training. Overall they both used collage, with the exception being that one has color and one does not. The little color I did have,  revolved around jewel tones, which I think will best reflect what’s being talked about in the class which is Twentieth-century art.

After feedback from Maddy, we decided to go with the black and white design. Before I reached the below image, there were some edits I needed to make, mostly about making the background more cohesive and focusing more on showcasing the professor. I also added a newspaper texture behind the “middle ground” of the image to help push the professor even more forward. I like it!

InDesign Training and Studio Course Training

October 23, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

This week I worked on two pieces of training: InDesign Part 2 and Studio Course Training.

For the InDesign Training, I went with a hexagonal theme. It made me think of science and data, like how DNA fits together like a puzzle. I thought it tied in with the topic of Race and Gender. Here are the 3 different color ways I came up with.

Before coming up with this as my final image.

For the Studio Course training, I’m still in the beginning stages. I decided to go with ART3800: Twentieth-Century Art as my subject to practice with. I’m still pulling a bunch of images and making some mock-ups. The image below is an idea for a collage. I think I’m going to make the museum a black and white silhouette so that it’s not so busy. This pulls items from the museum as well as the syllabus.

For the second design I’m drawing inspiration from the Bauhaus style, this one will be in color. This is just an idea, it won’t say “Name of the Course” in the final. I just wanted to get an idea of where I wanted to place it. This mainly pulls from the syllabus.

Fairy Spin

October 16, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

This week I worked on Part 2 of my PSD Character Design Training as well as Canvasser. After making the instructions, I made the images that I wanted to go along with them.

In Part 2, they’ll be using their image from Part 1 of the training, After importing the image into Photoshop, they’ll have to section off the body, and then draw the shapes that make it up when they are facing in different directions.

Next, they’ll add in the details of their character and after approval will work on the final sketch.

My Canvasser game was the other thing I worked on. After inputting everything into Canvasser, there were a couple of problems I ran into so I’m waiting for feedback from Bridget.

Fairies and Bread

October 9, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

This week I worked on my Canvasser game and a new training I’m making over Character Design!

For the Canvasser game, I’m pretty close to being done. I was able to include an “ingredient bar” at the top so that you can click back and forth through each recipe. The recipe book at the bottom now has a “mix” button in order to get the pop-up to show. After talking with Bridget, we’ve figured out a way to be able to check each ingredient without having to create a new Canvasser for each recipe by using “modvar”. So I’ll be working on that next week and hopefully, that’ll wrap that up!

The new training over Character Design has been so much fun to work on! Here are the images I’ll be placing into the instructions including sketches, color schemes, and the final design. This is just my example to show for guidance, everyone will be making their own character. Also with Suloni’s suggestion, I’m adding a part 2 talking about 180-degree views and why it is important next week.

2 Words that start with C and Photo IDs

October 2, 2020 By Danielle Daynos

This week I worked on Canvasser, Training for Character Design, and Photos IDs.

These are some of the IDs I worked on. Used a technique from previous training to make the lighting appear brighter on the right side of her face.

Started the draft for the Character Design Training. I linked some videos and websites that could help. I plan to make the drawings I want to insert next time I’m on shift. Here are some snippets of the text.

The last thing I worked on this week was Canvasser. Finally got done making the assets and uploading them. The process is a little slow as I have so many objects and I need to re-make some of the assets after talking with Maddy, but it’s getting there!

This week I worked on Photo IDs, Photo Edits for the STA Poster and my Canvasser game. Here’s one of the Photo IDs I was working on.

Below are images of the assets for my canvasser game. Everything is ready, I’m just waiting on Bridget to approve my PSD file. Next week I’ll be uploading everything to Canvasser and hopefully get the game running!
