CSMS Logo and Animation Process Documentation

For the past couple of days I have been working on creating documentation on the animation and logo process for the CSMS course. CSMS has a particular style format for all of their graphics. This document showcases the consistency and provides information on creation the animation and logo.

Planning, Search, and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Finalization

Planning, Search, and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Finalization

For this course, finding the right animation was an extensive process that require multiple revisions. We wanted to keep it to where it follows only one path, but slow the animation down a bit. In addition, here are the other edits I needed to add to the animation:

  • Change the template from the “with subtitle” to the “without subtitle” for the name of the course.
  • Make sure that the begin cursor animation matches up with the cursor when the text animation occurs.
  • Change/differentiate the final path’s endpoints and the other paths in the animation.

Since the logo design ended up changing, I had to also edit the course card and title card.

Planning, Search, and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Assets

Planning, Search, and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Assets

It’s coming close to the deadline for the CSMS intro, therefore, I spent majority of this week working on various drafts and iterations of the intro and getting the other assets completed.

Edits:

For the logo, I made the the light blue lines white at a 50% opacity.

Course card:

Title Card:

Intro 1:

This initial intro was extremely fast for the 4 second animation.

Intro 2:

For the animation, instead of it following all the paths, it currently only goes along the correct path and shows intersection points where the person could potentially go in a different direction.

Planning, Search, and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Logo Finalization

Planning, Search, and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Logo Finalization

These were the two initial iterations of the logo design. The right one showcases the complexity of the course, but the left one is simpler and easier to read as a design. I felt that it was best to continue with the left logo and find elements that are within the right logo to incorporate to make it more complicated.

These are the various versions of the simplified logo with different path options to make it a more dynamic design. I personally felt the the top right was the best option.

Now, I’m trying to figure out which is the best layout in terms of readability. We want to make sure the viewer can see the path through the maze easily but it’s also a strong logo.

Scan Heman Sweatt Slides

project: Scan Heman Sweatt Slides
Client /Prof: Dr. M. Gillette
completion status: Started October 5th
staff guidance: Valerie
STA team members: N/A
description/plans:

For this project, I was tasked with taking the photo negatives and scanning them to the computer. Depending on the quality of the scan, I touched them up in photoshop to ensure the same quality.

To be completed: October 14th

Initial Scan:

After the scan, it was quite apparent that two of the images where a lot darker and had an underline red tone. Therefore, I had to go in photoshop to make edits.
